Komura did a 2x teleconverter once - ghastly thing.

Like Jaap, I can't think of anything else that would come close to matching your requirement, unless you go down the Visoflex route.

Regards,

Bill

1) I've never actually seen one but the 1975 Leitz catalogue lists the 16469, which is a 10mm thick ring with male and female M-mounts. Listed as extension rings for the 280mm Telyt and to provide 1:1 focus with 50mm lenses on a Viso II/III.

2) Also you can use a 16466, the adapter for mounting Viso I lenses on a II or III, plus an ordinary LTM-bayonet adapter, plus any LTM extension tubes. (The Corfield ones seem to come up for sale quite often.)

I have the 16469 and use it with the Visoflex III.

It fits in between a Viso at one side and an M lens, the 16466, the 16464, or the Bellows II on the other.

By an amazing coincidence I ran across a goggled extension tube today: SOMKY. It turns out Leica made a number of different ones for different lenses.

Jaap,

WOW! Amazing is the operative word indeed.

Being pretty new to Leica rangefinder photography, I am fascinated by the fact that one can combine the fairly new digital M9 (or M8) with half a century old mechanical and optical components into a functioning system that has the potential of taking stunning photos.

Thanks for posting, K-H.

It didn't happen by chance. It's German design philosophy.

zeitz,

Thanks. I understand, having grown up in Germany. Nevertheless, I am also equally amazed that computers, especially supercomputers, work at all considering their complexity, having used them for many years. With regards to mechanical gear, Leica's conservative approach in not changing the outside dimensions of their cameras much, has considerable advantages when using a Visoflex III with an M9, for example. The trigger arm of the Visoflex comes right down on the switch of the M9 and fires the shutter. Fascinating!

Thanks again, K-H.

Also, for closeups, one can use he Zeiss Ikon Contameter device:

Jaap,

Do you want me to ask if the private owner still wouldn't sell it?

I use rather a lot my SOMKY... and almost any "next to macro" pic of my gear that I posted here has been made with it : M8+SOMKY+UOORF+Summicron 50 head (without the UOORF ring you can mount only collapsible Elmars or Summicron)

Is a pleasant combo to use.
