Grab any detailed high quality digital image and one could simulate the old mythical leica look on the screen............... the printed image well that's another story but the X1 will never be able to produce prints like those that came from film cameras. Â With "volume noise" turned off, the GXR's shutter is literally inaudible. About the same as with the X1's. I consider both "silent". After another weekend with the X1, the UI of the GXR is really really superior. Except for activating the flash, it can be completely operated one handed. Changing iso, wb, focus requires using the left hand with the X1. Not so with the GXR, with the thumb of the right hand one can quickly change iso, wb, focus (and other fucntions) via click wheel whilst comfortably holding the camera with one hand. Even changing shutter speed or aperture in manual mode or ap respectively is faster end easier with the GXR, sine the nostalgic and great looking X1 dials can not be operated easily and safely with one hand. Will be interesting to see how professional reviewers like Sean Reid compare high iso and lens performance. What AF mode did you use for this shot?  Do you have any concerns regarding handholdablity since the camera is so small and there is no Image Stabilization?  Thanks for posting.  Kind regards and still waiting for my Leica dealer to get an X1 in for me to try out. Douglasco Posted March 29, 2010 Share #31  Posted March 29, 2010 Hi len_gee  The X1 does have Image Stabilization but I think you have to have the camera on a tripod as it takes two photos in succession so I just do not bother with it. although it is a small camera I tend to find it easy to use except I would recommend using an external veiwfinder as the rear screen is no good in bright sunshine. When I took that photo I used 1 point focus which is o.k if you are close to the subject but for photographing something a bit further away I use the 11 point focus setting at the moment. I suppose I am just used to sending films off for developing and having them come back looking o.k.
