kdemas Posted March 15, 2010 Share #45 Â Posted March 15, 2010 OK, yet another moving subject. The manual focus isn't bad but a wider distance scale, with more granular control, would be nice in a firmware update. Â Manual Focus, ISO 3200, F5.6. Quick processing with LR2.6. stephen.w Posted March 15, 2010 Share #48  Posted March 15, 2010 Whatever happened to images of people moving some in foreground middleground etc.  Hi Emants,  I took the X1 with me on a 4 day trip to Venice last week and these are a few of the street shots I took while there. I was using the 11 point AF. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Guest stnami Posted March 15, 2010 Share #49 Â Posted March 15, 2010 Thanks Stephen, these don't seem as sharp as the still shots so maybe the camera is not suited for the "By the seat of my pants" shooting. Not that sharpness is up there with the top for me........ good to see someone using the camera as a everyday shooter
stephen.w Posted March 15, 2010 Share #50 Â Posted March 15, 2010 No, they certainly aren't as sharp. Also, the camera has no image stabilisation available for moving subjects. Like you, I will be watching this market segment closely for something which matches (or comes acceptably close) to the IQ of the X1 and which is more suited to shooting moving subjects. I have yet to shoot with the camera zone focused, but when I have I will post the results on the forum.
Ecaton Posted March 15, 2010 Share #51 Â Posted March 15, 2010 The more examples I see from the X1, the less desire I have to even try one. Produces great files, people say, of building and trees, but even these files need to be seen yet.
Guest stnami Posted March 15, 2010 Share #52 Â Posted March 15, 2010 Yea and many miss the poin that t it is a problem with the way the camera has been set up doesn't allow the photographer to produce results in a fluid manner especially in regards to moving subjects and the way AF and manual focusing . The problems are in the camera not the photographer and it is obvious as some guys here who can produce good stuff struggle to reproduce that with the camera. Remember I am writinging in regards to moving subjects not still ones
brucek Posted March 15, 2010 Share #53 Â Posted March 15, 2010 Imants - have you looked at the Panny GF1 and the 20mm f/1.7 lens? I like much of what I've read about the camera but am a little hesitant because of the high ISO noise. - Bruce
Guest stnami Posted March 15, 2010 Share #54 Â Posted March 15, 2010 Yea I had good look but once again it has a great role up to 800iso as the price drops it will be a worthwhile aquisition for some general shooting, though owning too many cameras is a pain................... I am shooting contax and ricoh film cameras at the moment but buying a camera can wait as I am spending more time putting a few dummy run books together Imants krumins

cheewai_m6 Posted March 17, 2010 Share #58 Â Posted March 17, 2010 toyota corolla = canon powershot point and shoot bmw 120 = leica x1 Â why is the corolla so much cheaper? they're both medium/small sized cars, similar engine capacity. but corolla is more reliable, parts are cheaper. which do you prefer, not afford, to drive? earleygallery Posted March 17, 2010 Share #60 Â Posted March 17, 2010 I had a BMW 120 for a while, lovely in many ways - I actually liked the design - but I wish BMW had remembered to fit shock absorbers to it!
