biglouis Posted March 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone up for it? This was a suggestion by Mperson that we 'regulate' meetings to one per quarter, e.g. the last Saturday of March, June, September and the New Year meet. I'm free that day. I know Farnz suggested Greenwich for one meet but I'm wondering if we should do that in June when there might just be a chance that this sodding winter is finally over. Any ideas on meeting place? Time? Any interest at all???? LouisB
Advertisement Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Hi biglouis, Take a look here London 27th March. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spylaw4 Posted March 3, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 3, 2010 I would be interested but I"ll be in sunnier climes. Greenwich in June - I'm up for that.
ejd Posted March 3, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 3, 2010 I can't make it that weekend -- 27/28 March -- unfortunately. Otherwise I'd be very glad to join you. All the best, John
Seeingeye Posted March 3, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 3, 2010 Sorry, Louis, I am another who cannot make that day. Your proposal for Greenwich in June sounds good, though. Regards Mike
PasMichiel Posted March 3, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 3, 2010 This 28th of march we meet in Breda the Netherlands, so come if you have time Let me know in time and I will come to London.
robert_parker Posted March 3, 2010 Share #6 Posted March 3, 2010 28th is going to be difficult for me, too, due to work committments towards the tax year end
biglouis Posted March 3, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted March 3, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) OK, scratch that idea. What other dates (if any) appeal to people? LouisB
earleygallery Posted March 3, 2010 Share #8 Posted March 3, 2010 What about Sat 10th April? After Easter hols? Portobello Rd antique market could be an interesting venue, or this walk? Seeingeye Posted March 3, 2010 Share #9 Posted March 3, 2010 What about Sat 10th April? After Easter hols? Portobello Rd antique market could be an interesting venue, or this walk? Not just cricket in St John's Wood | England - Times Online This date and either of James' proposed locations work for me. For the St John's Wood walk, whether a bunch of photographers can actually cover a distance of 2.5 miles in four hours or less is moot! And how could we end up in the Chandos afterward with either? farnz Posted March 3, 2010 Share #10 Posted March 3, 2010 I'm up for either or both dates (any excuse for a pint with some friends, eh? ) and I agree that Greenwich in June is a better idea. Pete.
spylaw4 Posted March 4, 2010 Share #11 Posted March 4, 2010 10 April maybe possible, but I'm at the theatre that evening so for me time is limited.
Alan Philpotts Posted March 4, 2010 Share #12 Posted March 4, 2010 27 March and 10 April - either date is fine with me. The suggestions from James both appear excellent. Incidentally, the walk starts near the Angel in the Fields and ends near the Robert Browning - both of which share the Chandos' pricing regime. George James Posted March 4, 2010 Share #13 Posted March 4, 2010 The 27 March would have suited me better than the new suggestion of the 10 April as engineering works are forecast on the southern railway network on the latter date. Still I will go with the flow if necessary. George

Another thought, perhaps Louis could give us a tour of Banksy gallery in Camden?.... Gawd, no! Avoid Camden on a Saturday and if you want my opinion avoid Portobello Road as well. But I am happy to do April 10th and if everyone does wants to do Portobello Road and environs then that is fine with me. LouisB
Nick De Marco Posted March 5, 2010 Share #16 Posted March 5, 2010 Greewhich sounds best to me. I went to Port road about a year ago and it was the worst place I have been in london for taking photos. nearly evert stall holder had a go at me for taking photos of their stalls, some qu9ite aggressively. Maybe they were selling stolen gear? Haven't wanted to go back with a camera since On the other hand if we turn up Leica mob handed....
Tim B Posted March 5, 2010 Share #17 Posted March 5, 2010 I'd like to be in on this and the 27th would be my preferred date, but I might be able to make the 10th April too. Don't really mind where. Tim
bartok Posted March 6, 2010 Share #18 Posted March 6, 2010 27th is my preferred date. I wouldn't have minded 10th April, but it looks as if I'm going to be away that weekend.
Xmas Posted March 6, 2010 Share #19 Posted March 6, 2010 Greewhich sounds best to me.I went to Port road about a year ago and it was the worst place I have been in london for taking photos. nearly evert stall holder had a go at me for taking photos of their stalls, some qu9ite aggressively. Maybe they were selling stolen gear? Haven't wanted to go back with a camera since On the other hand if we turn up Leica mob handed.... That is true of more than stall holders, a Frog ENG team - large cam on legs (tripod) had a go at me for taking sneaky candits, they could hear the stainless shutter... They said they expected me to ask per, but they were not asking every one either. It was some time before they recognized that irate expressions were my fav. If a stall holder gets violent I'm good at decisive moments... All the tourists have DSLR in the street markets, and click away happily, some are clearly photogs with medium format gear etc. Got a S44 for StPancres station externals... Think the demo (vigil) outside the Zimb embassy on the Strand is still running 14:00 until 17:00, I feel they will be there until the dict dies. There is visiting Aperture (for carrot juice only) or Red Dot (for coffee, I could twist Ivor's arm for a glass of plonk, each) Noel
earleygallery Posted March 8, 2010 Share #20 Posted March 8, 2010 OK so my ideas were rubbish. The walk was a little ambitious I'll admit! I'd still like to do some shots of the City at a weekend when it's practically deserted - we'll no doubt be questioned at some point by security bods but that will be part of the fun - or I'm up for any other suggestions. Perhaps as it's not the 27th we need to start a new thread once a new date is agreed?
