Annibale G. Posted February 22, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, do you cover sometimes the red dot which is written Leica inside? What do you use or what do you suggest to cover it? Thanks
Advertisement Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Hi Annibale G., Take a look here Covering the red dot. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 22, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2010 Why? I replaced it with a black one for esthetic reasons.
Walt Calahan Posted February 22, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 22, 2010 I put a piece of black gaffer tape over mine, as well as the M# model logo. Makes the camera even more stealth. This only works with black body cameras.

earleygallery Posted February 22, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 22, 2010 I'm thinking of making a camera 'case' out of an old teddy bear, or a loaf of bread. No one will suspect I'm taking their photo if I'm pointing a teddy or loaf at them.

dcoombs Posted February 22, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 22, 2010 Rangefound: Hell, no, we won't logo... Regards, Bill Thoroughly enjoyed the essay! Took me a while to realize this was your blog, Bill. I'm a little slow. Great stuff and I also enjoyed reading back into the archives. Keep it up! tdtaylor Posted February 23, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 23, 2010 Enjoyed your blog, Bill, especially reason No. 4. I once ask a Sales Manager how much he would offer to advertise on "my" car after I drove it off the lot- obviously a question he never received. While flummoxed, he hesitated and relinquished, removing the very obnoxious dealer logos. I do have a black Leica dot on my M9, and for no other reason than I like it. I'm a designer and "dressing" in black suits me- no other reason. By the way, the auto was not a base model .

Bartie Posted February 23, 2010 Share #12 Posted February 23, 2010 I`ve waited years to own a Leica and the last thing I would want to do is to cover anything on my M9. Andy;)
rebelfocus Posted February 23, 2010 Share #13 Posted February 23, 2010 I replaced it with a black logo and it looks much more discreet now. I found the red dot was attracting too much street attention from gear-heads. I had an 8,2 before and became fond of the all black look. DAG camera sells them at a fair price and they are relatively easy to replace.
Ed_K Posted February 24, 2010 Share #14 Posted February 24, 2010 Haven't covered mine on the M6 and probably won't bother when my M9 arrives; i don't usually do street photography so the red dot bother me less, i guess.
