ijporter Posted December 10, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I saw this interesting inverted mirror in a shop window in Jermyn St. It provided an unusual opportunity for a self-portrait. Advertisement Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Hi ijporter, Take a look here Jermyn St Mirror. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
JHAG Posted December 10, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 10, 2006 That's a picture. Framing, tones and reflection build some sort of modern "Vanité". Bravissimo PS : How far from Geo F. Trumper ?

ijporter Posted December 10, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted December 10, 2006 Johan, I'm sorry to say that I don't know where Geo. F. Trumper is. I'm not even sure of the name of this shop - it was a men's shaving / toiletires shop and the assistant came out to tell me I wasn't to photograph the shop interior. I told him what I was doing (very politely, of course!) and showed him the similar shot I'd taken on a little digital camera (non-Leica, I'm ashamed to say) I had with me to ease his concerns. I don't think he thought much of my creative efforts! with best wishes, Ian

Pity their clerk should not be up to their remarkable shaving creams… They should be proud to have a photograph like yours on the wall of their prized shop. ijporter Posted December 11, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted December 11, 2006 Johan, Following your reply, I googled Geo. F. Trumper and - yes, it must be the place where I took the photograph. Thank you for that. It often amazes me how members can recognise locations from even the most insignificant details. Thanks, Ian

JHAG Posted December 11, 2006 Share #11 Posted December 11, 2006 Ian, I just know Jermyn Street, a beautiful London Street, and remember well Geo F. Trumper has a shop there. They have another one in Curzon Street, which is not less elegant and, to my knowledge, the only street in the world named after a policy maker (Lord Curzon) and an oustanding repertoire piano player (Clifford Curzon) A very photogenic street, by the way. Yours Johan
