NEED for a more accurate viewfinder...

Not all DSLR's provide 100% viewfinder coverage, in fact most of them cover only app. 95%. I find DSLR live -which provides 100%- view virtually unusable, except when there is time to set-up a laptop etc. Pro DSLR's cover 100%, but given the expense, an upgrade to a M9 would make more sense, the enlarged M9 sensor size makes some cropping less of an issue.

thank you all for ur kind inputs

i was using 75mm lens that has serious frame inaccuracy issue

also it annoys me that right bottom corner of the viewfinder is always blocked by the lens

i guess more serious you get with photography, more precise you become and that's what is happening to me. i was wondering for possible solution to reduce frame inaccuracy such as if it's worth it to have my m8 viewfinder upgraded ... M9 is out of the question b/c i don't really like it.

and M8 LCD is almost invisible in a bright day with sunlight ....

With all framelines a rangefinder is inaccurate, the framelines are as a guide to the eye not much more. I find I get more and more accurate in framing with experience, framing "outside the frame" depending on which lens I am using.

The frames provided are always conservative, everything inside the frame will be on the DNG. I guess you can do some intelligent cropping if you need to (even automatically in C1 just crop one image and copy/paste the treatment??)

Anyway the main joy of a rangefinder is that you see info from outside the frame of the objective lens you are using which makes composition a lot easier & you can see what is coming into view.

We were trying to explain that due to the nature of framelines on a rangefinder the inaccuracy as you call it is determined by the system, and thus lies within the user, not the camera. If you object to that and to intrusion of the lens in the viewfinder, which is also inevitable, given the system, it may be that you are using the wrong camera for your needs, and are indeed blaming your tool.

It is true that the frames for 75mm of the original M8 are too narrow, so that you can add considerably more to get the idea of your resulting picture. On the other hand this is not too difficult, as the frames for 75 and 50mm are rather close together. So I add one third of the distance between both frames and this is not too far from what I really have on the photo.

Though what I cannot understand, that you feel the 75mm lens is always blocking the frames in the bottom right corner. Do you use the 75mm Summilux? With the Summicron only a small part is blocked when I focus to 70cm, from 1m upwards the frames for 75mm are always on the left side of the lens.

Maybe he is using the whole rangefinder view for framing, that is inaccurate :D
