Melissa--my wife is a psychologist and she runs an equine psychotherapeutic facility. We have rescued several animals: Butler is a 30 yr old donkey and Ms Marple a 40 yr old mini mule---both were terrible abused and had severe PTSD when we adopted them. They, as well as other horses, are used psychotherapeutically. They are not ridden, but used on the ground and have an incredible ability to help bring out relational issues with clients---many of whom are children who would rather not do much talkin'.
