brill64 Posted December 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) i noticed today with my m8.2 to my eye and half depressing the shutter a high-pitched ringing/hissing sound in my ears. I've not noticed it before. I was quite suprised and thought maybe the radio slave in the flash shoe was acting up but no, it still made the same noise without it attached and was not audible when not touching the shutter button. Has anyone else noticed this or am I working too hard?
Advertisement Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Hi brill64, Take a look here ringing in my ears... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
photophile Posted December 22, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 22, 2009 are you currently taking aspirin? ringing in the ears is often associated with too much aspirin....if not - hmmm...maybe you should? on a serious note, I have never heard a ringing-only the whir of the recock. Good luck in finding a better answer. Best. C.
holgerf Posted December 22, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 22, 2009 Yes, it’s audible in a quiet surrounding with good ears, M8 and M8-2. Best Holger
photophile Posted December 22, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 22, 2009 Based on Holger's comment - now I shall have to go listen more intently. Interesting, I had not noticed it before. Best. C
Clook Posted December 22, 2009 Share #5 Posted December 22, 2009 I can hear it from both my M8 and M8.2. It kicks in just above the tinitis but often gets drowned out by those voices! Seriously though, yes I can hear it. My Nikon D200 also made this noise but not as loud as the M8.
gravastar Posted December 22, 2009 Share #6 Posted December 22, 2009 It's the inductor/s in the camera's high frequency switching mode power supply that you can hear - nothing to worry about at Christmas . Bob.
Gerard Posted December 22, 2009 Share #7 Posted December 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's the voices you need to watch out for. Especially the ones telling you to buy 'that lens'.

brill64 Posted December 29, 2009 Author Share #12 Posted December 29, 2009 Yes, it’s audible in a quiet surrounding with good ears, M8 and M8-2. Best Holger thank you, Holger, it's good to know i'm not completely mad already. thanks to all for being able to hear it too, aspirin induced or not and including someone's dog. is this why my dog always sits to attention when i take her photograph? and to lord vader, may the force be with you...happy new year!
