Dear experts - please help,

My M9 is here - I bought it in the same shop where I got my first M2 in 1970 here in Stockholm. Yesterday the M9 was delivered by the son of the owner family and the father was there too - same guy who sold me the first M2 to me 39 years ago - it was a NICE moment I can tel you.

My first day with the new M9 was very beatiful and I got some very nice pictures - the sharpness, tone and feeling is there - I know this is what I have been looking for!!

BUT - here I need some help - when I download to Lightroom I am confused;

1. The files are store in TIF format - why - I thought dng was the right one...

2. File sizes are about 17Mbit BUT sizes are only 320x216 which is a big problem if I open the images in Photoshop - it should read something like 5212x3468!! Images look awful in Ph but no problem in Lightroom.

Have I got the wrong preferences or what??? Thanks for any help!!

Thanks from a very happy new M9 owner,

/Anders

I am dowloading via USB Windows Xp and PTP, have not tried out Mass storage yet-but is card reader direct to the SD card different??

Steve's absolutely right Anders - and also you'll find that a USB card reader is SO much quicker and easier than the direct-from-camera method.

Have fun!

Card reader is the way to do it in any case. Buy 2 or 3 and have carry 1 in you rohotobag + 1 as backup and have one in your office, kitchen or somewhere where it make sense. No cables involved, much more compact, faster and all. But do have more than one as they can be broken, get lost or "have a bad day."

Hi Anders. Congratulations on your new M9. I have added an icon to the delivery map over your house (link below), using a black icon. Please let me know if I should change it to another colour. :) And, if you are happy to advise the dealer and date ordered, I'll add those details as well. Thanks. Enjoy your camera!

Great! I´m on Wiberg´s list as well, and every camera delivered should advance me yet one notch....

Haven´t seen Senior in the shop for years (he should be proud of the way his son keeps the tradition up...:)). Happy to hear he´s still around.

As for your problem, I´m a Mac man, so the only thing I can add is another strong recommendation for a card reader! The one and only time I actually connect a camera directly is where the s/w that came with it allows me to put my name into the EXIF block; don´t know yet if it can be done for the M9.

I have solved this now - it is only a set-up thing in Lightroom. It now works perfect to import from the camera via USB - you just have to tell Lightroom to do this. No differance to using a card reader.

Per - senior Wiberg (I think his name is John) is in perfect helth! I ordered mine on the 11th and I think I was number 3 or 4 who got his M9 from Wibergs. Hope you get your soon - it is a wonderful piece of equipment!

Please spend the $20 on a card reader. Not only will the download be significantly faster, it will save your battery (they do have a finite life), keep the camera from heating up, and if you happen to trip on the cord it won't bring a $7K camera to the floor.
