viramati Posted December 1, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 1, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) There was talk of a meet up on New years eve in the afternoon. Can't remember who mentioned it but I would be interested.
Advertisement Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Hi viramati, Take a look here London New years eve. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
biglouis Posted December 2, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 2, 2009 David I proposed it as we had a similar event last year. Andy (MPerson) and I were considering either New Year's Eve itself or the Wednesday. As before we thought we would head for Borough Market as it is covered, there is lots to photograph and in or nearby are many good hostelries, although I would again propose the Barrow Boy and Banker as it was just far enough away to avoid being overhwlemed. Which day would people prefer, the Thursday or the Wednesday, at say 11AM? LouisB
MPerson Posted December 2, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 2, 2009 When Louis and I were discussing this we were not aware of the Borough's opening times over Xmas/New Year. Having looked at their web site the opening times are: Wednesday 30th December 9am - 6pm Thursday 31st December 9am - 2pm Obviously the Weds is better for a leisurely stroll and to see the market in full flow. Louis also pointed out, "Wednesday could be one of those dead days at Xmas when an excuse to get out could be very welcome!" As a gentleman of leisure I am happy with either. biglouis Posted December 2, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 2, 2009 Andy Let's officially go for Wednesday 30th and please can we have a show of hands (metaphorically and because I am a teacher) of who might want to come? Louis

Seeingeye Posted December 2, 2009 Share #6 Posted December 2, 2009 Hi Louis and Andy I enjoyed my first meet last month and I could well be interested in this, especially as Borough Market is one those locations I have thought about shooting. Falstaff Posted December 24, 2009 Share #17 Posted December 24, 2009 Weds 30th Borough Market – is it ok to try and join you? I shall be driving down to London on the Weds, and barring any holdups, I should be able to make it to London Bridge for early to mid afternoon. Do you folks have some kind of an itinerary or do I just drift around the market until I bump into a bunch of Leicas? Falstaff
farnz Posted December 24, 2009 Share #18 Posted December 24, 2009 Falstaff, You will be very welcome to join us! (... and, pray, what is this "itinerary" contraption of which you speak? ) There's no reason why we couldn't arrange a checkpoint and we normally stop for, um, "refreshments" sooner or later. Louis has suggested the Barrow Boy and Banker again, which was pleasant last time although I suspect we're probably unlikely to head there until the gloom is starting its descent. If you'd like I can PM you my mobile and 'guide you in' if we're still walking about when you arrive? Pete.
Falstaff Posted December 24, 2009 Share #19 Posted December 24, 2009 Pete Itinerary/itinery is the “aimless walking around after a pit stop for lunch” - at least that’s what happens up here . Thanks, being guided in via your mobile is a good idea. Falstaff
farnz Posted December 24, 2009 Share #20 Posted December 24, 2009 Ah, that bit. For me, it's normally a list of places I won't eventually get to. You have my mobile number via PM. Pete.
