M9 vs M8 Pix -- REDUX

This is the first time (well, second or third time really, out of hundreds of pictures I have seen on the web so far, and out of the few took by myself when trying an M9 at the Leica store in Mayfair, London -I wasn't too impressed-) that I actually and finally see an M9 picture that has no reds all over and which is visibly and clearly BETTER than the M8's.

Very nice picture(s) indeed.

It makes the M9 more tempting...although yesterday I bought a 4 months old M8.2 for less than half price of a new M9, and I think that for many non-pros/amateurs like me, that is the wiser choice right now, the M9 (for many people I guess) is just too expensive to be justified over an M8.2.

Here are the same images with sharpening and nr turned off in C1. I have made then shorter so they might appear on the same viewing screen. M9; then, M8. [Had to post a second nd 3rd time because I forgot to set the M9 to the same wb as the M8.]

Bill - although we all know how impossible it is to evaluate from screen jpegs, your shots do show the remarkable difference in control of shadow detail that the M9 gives. Where things would have broken up or blocked on the M8, the M9 holds the subtle gradation... Thanks... I don't have an M8 any longer so can't do the comparison - nice to see someone else doing this.

Thank you Bill. I don't see significant differences with the pics with NR and sharpening turned on i must say. Not so easy to compare due to different sizes though.
