fake leica on Ebay

I am observing "tonaya" on eBay since a long time. It looks like she/he has bought an old stock of Leica repair house somewhere in US. Sometimes I had impression that some of the spare parts that were offered are "newly" produced. A year ago tonaya was offering a "kit" for Anastigmat and Elmax including front ring with appropriate engravings, lens mount, release button.. everything unused. But no lense itself.

Tonaya was selling as well top covers for various models without SN engraved.

Engravings on eBay Leica are at least strange - especially Wetzlar - never saw such "shaky" letter on any real Leica

I don't post much here but when it pertains to her I dislike her.

She befriended the director of E Leitz Canada before they went to Ratheyon. She was able to get ALL the screw and M parts and I mean ALL parts including a pantograph that was left. A source tells me she had a tractor trailer full of parts shipped to Pasadena California. She has fleeced many but the word is out but still some don't listen. Remember she doesn't do it alone she has helpers all over. So be aware and stay away when you see her name.

If she was able to get the pantograph, that would than explain the dubious engravings. I am assuming that this is the pantograph used to engrave bodies.

Am I mistaken but the rear VF windows are not from a IIIC which certainly on my father's one, had separate windows but from a later IIIF, where they are together. This means that the donor camera is post war by which time, it is RATHER unlikely that anyone would have been engraving a swastika on it as original.

From the IIIb onward, all II and III versions of Leica rangefinder-equipped bodies had the RF and VF windows close together. The IIIa body was indeed the last one with the windows further apart.

I stand corrected. I had always thought my father's other and favourite Leica was a IIIC, when it must have been a IIIA. It had the focus control on a small lever surrounding the RF window. It was stolen in Spain in the mid 1960's, so unlike his IIF, it is not in my possession.
