hjernemadsen Posted October 31, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 31, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am sorry if this question has been asked befor, but i can not find relevant info via the search function. The question is this: Would you expect any, only slight or serious vignetting if using a coded Leica 28 mm lens on a M9? Sincerely Peter:confused:
Advertisement Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Hi hjernemadsen, Take a look here Vignetting With the M9 and the 28mm cron. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dpattinson Posted October 31, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 31, 2009 Any vignetting should be corrected by the firmware for a coded lens, that's what the coding is used for on the M9. I'm not sure how much there is from the 28 cron, but I wouldn't expect to see much at all even without correction.
chris_tribble Posted October 31, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 31, 2009 I've not noticed anything. Image 28 Cron Asph, taken at f3.5 according to LR 3 Beta. If there was going to be vignetting this would have shown it.
chrism Posted October 31, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 31, 2009 The firmware should correct any vignetting as long as the camera is set to auto lens detection, or manual lens detection and a 28mm lens is selected. If lens detection is off, there will be visible vignetting. Chris

ArtZ Posted October 31, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 31, 2009 Cron 28 and M9 here M summilux.net :: Voir le sujet - Adobe Lightroom 3 Beta No vignetting. I can see magenta cast "on the left" in the first picture on summilux.net. Idem in the picture posted by Chris Tribble... or I'm dreaming?

ArtZ Posted October 31, 2009 Share #8 Posted October 31, 2009 Whoops, you may be correct. Oh dear, firmware fix? I think Maurizio said also in another thread he had found the magenta cast "on the left" with the Summicron-M 28 ASPH and other lenses.
chris_tribble Posted October 31, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 31, 2009 Hmmm - it was also late evening with the sun setting. Here's another from the same time frame, + another the next day - afternoon light. I don't see a cast here...

Here's another from the same time frame, + another the next day - afternoon light. I don't see a cast here... That is curious comparing the first and the second set, sadly I don't have an M9 (yet) to do a comparison test.
lct Posted October 31, 2009 Share #11 Posted October 31, 2009 ...I wouldn't expect to see much at all even without correction.Vignetting at f/2 and f/2.8 is significant, as usual with 28mm lenses.
Fotomiguel Posted October 31, 2009 Share #12 Posted October 31, 2009 I can't see magenta cast in any of the pictures. May be a tiny vignetting. May be I'm dreaming as well?
