Hello everyone, I have a question about the dimensions of the Leica 11310 lens with the (square) hood mounted, I think the model is 12524 and/or 12526. Currently, I use a Biogon 2/35 which I love but sometimes I find the lens protrusion from camera body quite long. The lens alone protrudes 1.75" from the camera body; with the UV filter and hood mounted, it protrudes to 2.4375" (7/16) from the camera body which is fine in some situations but unwieldy in others. The hood and UV filter are used to protect from bumps. I had the chance to mount an 11310 to my camera which seems to protrude about an inch from the body but at the time the vendor did not have the hood so I had no way of even guesstimating where it would end up. Can anyone who has this lens + hood combo provide a measurement?

I have noticed that my Noctilux has two different fonts on the lens. The front and the aperture ring has the same one as all the latest Leica lenses but the body has the previous typeface. The lens has a serial number that one would be normally associate it with a V3 but according to Leica the serial numbers on the wiki are not entirely accurate. This is what Leica can tell me about the lens. Through all my Leica years I haven't seen another lens like this so I am curious to know if anyone else has an Early V4 with the same layout.

Hi everyone, I recently acquired a 50mm Summicron V5 for a pretty good price. I'm loving the performance but am not a fan of the retractable hood and lack of a focusing tab. Because of this I'm considering switching to a V4, which is optically identical but addresses these points. My only concern is for the supposed use of plastic parts in the V4, which I have not heard mentioned in relation to the V5. Is it true that plastic was used in the V4? If so, for which parts? Does the V5 also contain plastic (seems odd to switch to plastic for one generation, then revert back in the next)? I'm also wondering whether the focus tab is plastic, as seems to be the case for all modern Leica lenses. Thanks in advance.
