  2. I added the Leica handgrip to my CL but I've been surprised at how flexible the grip is. The base seems quite solid, but there is definite movement at the top of the grip; it's just not as reassuringly solid as I expected. Is it just me? And then there's the finger loop, which I've never liked the look of, but I was persuaded to try. Actually quite nice, but how do you stop it from working loose from the grip?
  3. I use the IDS grip on my M10-P because I feel the M10-P is too heavy to grip for long time with the bare body. But for M4, I’m not sure if I also need a handgrip because it is way lighter than M10-P with the same lens setup. And for aesthetic reason I don’ like the IDS grip for analog M and also many other grips that enclose the whole baseplate with considerably ugly thickness add to the body. I very much prefer the sleek design of analog M-bodies. So I want to try the 14405 but when I saw its second-hand price I hesitated and found the made-in-our-China replica only sells at 1/3 of the preown-price for 14405. So I ordered one, but disappointed once I put it on. There is plenty much room between the handle and the body of my M4, and the grip becomes unsteady and crappy. I asked the manufacturer and his response is they made it primarily for M6, period. I have never touched an M6 in real life so I doubt if there is really that much difference between the M4 and M6? I thought the Leica Ms are quite consistent with the M4 design after the M5 affairs…
  4. I often use my Q2 on a tripod in combination with a Sirui mounting system. I also have the original handgrip mounted on my Q2. To securely mount the Q2 on the bullhead of my tripod I use the small Sirui TY-C10 plate. This makes a quick and secure mounting/demounting of the Q2 on the tripod possible. The problem is that the plate blocks the big screw of the handgrip. I have to demount the plate to be able to reach the battery and/or memory card compartments. In my view this is simply a design weakness. (Another designers weakness is that the screw-hole in the handgrip is not central to the lens (as it in on the camerabody). I have to use several accessories to correctly mount the camera in central position on the tripod). To make the access of the compartments easier I have cut a small piece of thin (sheep)leather (0,2-0,4 mm) and put it under the plate. Now the Sirui plate fits solid on the camera body and the screw of the handgrip can be used without each time having to demount the Sirui plate.
  5. Hi all, this is my first post, and I am glad to have found this community. I am rather new to the leica world and I would appreciate some help on this simple issue: I was looking all over the web for a handgrip for my m6TTL, and I have found only one that I find acceptable in terms of looks and shape, but unfortunately I was unable to find any information on where it can be obtained or even who the manufacturer is. The handgrip I am talking about is this one. any hints? thanks a lot in advance, raimund
  6. The 14405 hand grips are starting to show their age - both of my have very cracked and weathered liners in their base plates. Here's how you can refurbish them and give them new life.
  7. Since a year I am using the handgrip for the q3. And maybe that is just me but I would like to have some improvements for such a premium product. So : I have to plan very specific with this handgrip. it lacks a arca Swiss mount ( easy could hav Ben molded into tha grip and it looks like it has but it’s a bit thicker) So if you are planing on shooting with a tripod , then you have to screw a plate onto the grip . what happens if the card is full? so there is no extra door or space or hole for the as card slot. and this would be the second thing I wish they would have thought of. then after some hours the battery dies. ok you can use a cable to charge but this is slow or you use the wireless function which is not magnetic so you cannot do this while shooting— then this is the second time you need to take of the arcar Swiss plate and the grip to reach the battery. for the q2 I had a simple grip with two holes and this was perfect ! It also had a arca Swiss dovetail. remove the camera from the tripod and you are good to go. I would love if the design team of this grip performs like 500 „on“ „off“ maneuvers just to feel what it means. imagine you are in a cold place, Canada - winter - your gloves on - stars 🤩 but the battery dies or the as card is full because you got overexcited…. I am definitely thinking of skipping the wireless charging function and going for a cheap grip because to me this grip brings pain into my workflow. yes 🙌 I am exaggerating, but this grip does not deliver form me. 1. arca Swiss 2. sd card slot accessible 3. battery accessible 4. no extra function button. yes this is my last point. For me a grip gives me the extra option of shooting portrait. And I would love to have fn buttons there or maybe a second thumb wheel. Yes it’s wining at a high level, I know. cheers Peter
