Hi all, I've seen this lens popping on ebay already from some camera sellers (at least in Germany) and was wondering if anyone has already seen/tried it and how it compares to the previous version.

I know that there are cosmetic differences and one mechanical difference (the new one can focus down to 0.5 meters as opposed to the 0.7 of the previous version) but I couldn't confirm if the optical formula is identical and if the new lens can deliver the same picture quality. Any news or reviews anyone?

Cheers,

KM

On ebay? Can you provide links? I haven't seen anything, but it's meant to be available end of this month in the US.....but quite honestly it's forbidden to praise this or the previous version of the lens on this forum, especially in comparison to the (perfect ;-)) Summilux.

I've been flamed for it before and know better now ;-)

I've been a rebel (pun intended - my first digital camera was a Canon Rebel) before ;-)

Here's one such link: Voigtländer Nokton 1,2/35 mm Aspherical II LEICA M NEU bei eBay.de: Objektive (endet 17.09.11 22:02:09 MESZ)

Double the price of a BNIB 35 from the previous generation. I do find the closer focusing distance an improvement and would be happy to pay up double just for this feature but as long as the rest of hte optical qualities remained.

Hi guys, I did take the plunge with this one and I bought one. Although I have had it for just a day, which is far form a sufficient amount of time, I am quite impressed with it compared to the 35/f1.4 CV or the Leica Summilux Classic (pre-aspherical). Even wide open it has a more contrasty rendition than the classic summilux. Stopped down to 5.6 it is outstanding. It could exhibit flare but is still excellent.

One thing that I noticed as a shortcoming in a way is that the camera doesn't distinguish really between f1.4 and f1.2 - when set to automatic, it does not register the change in apperture. It is perfect will all the other appertures (even with the change from 16 to 22).

Here are three shots which have not been tampered with (direct lightroom export).

I ordered the CV 35mm f/1.2 from the USA distributor

about two weeks ago when he was notified they were

on their way from Japan. I'm expecting it to arrive any

day now. I'll have to post if my aperture setting wide

open registers incorrectly as well.

I wanted the newest, fastest Leica 35mm but I'm

searching for a good deal on a MATE V3 and

couldn't justify getting both the 35 lux and the MATE

so when this CV 35 became available I was

thrilled......I mean.......I mean.......I was on drugs

and the Devil mate me buy it.

Do you set anything on the M so it thinks its a

35mm f/1.4 ASPH or do you just attach it and

don't worry about in camera corrections?

You said it exhibited some flair, were you using

the included sun shade?

Please post an update when you've had a chance

to really use it under imperfect conditions. BTW,

I'm impressed with the photos of you vacation home.

Do you have a sister?
