Guest glasses Posted May 29, 2011 Share #1  Posted May 29, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Earlier I used my Notebook on the holiday trips to store, to view and to select my pictures. When I used my car on holidays this solution was absolutely okay but the equipment is heavy. The 2nd function was the e-mail check an internet connection in the hotel.  Now I use the iPad2 with the same functions and the equipment is light and very comfortable in the plane.  My easy travel equipment: - iPad2 - Leica M8 - Lens 2.8/28mm - Lens 1.4/50mm  What is your experience?  Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Finally they are too expensive for their real value - just my opinion, sorry  That is not a solution for me. As a "Picture tank" I have my Win XP netbook with me (weight 1,25 kg) and the 60GB capacity is enough. Also the screen is comfortable enough for pre-pre sorting of the pics. For me the limitation is in the speed of loading DNG files from the SD card and not having LightRoom on the iPad. For the rest it is great. In fact mine is already paid for from income from a client who I could show some work on the excellent little screen of the iPad. Especially the short startup time and ease of handling next to its compact size (so you actually bring it) makes it a nice extra tool in photography. The screen is much worse that on the M8/M9 but it's only for finding your way around the files. Amazingly fast data transfer speeds off the SD card. Â Also used a Macbook Air 11 inch, lowest spec (my wife's computer, as my MacBook Pro is too heavy for light travel) which was more than 'adequate' to run LR3 for basic viewing & editing Good battery life. Personally I wouldn't use the iPad for lack of operating system (ie can't run LR3 or equivalent), memory, etc. It's a shame the iPad isn't a bit more versatile with respect to memory & operating system. johnwolf Posted May 30, 2011 Share #14  Posted May 30, 2011 I used my iPad2 with the M9 for the first time last weekend at the Indy 500. It worked well and was very enjoyable. DNG previews are poor, but I shot DNG plus low res jpg, and the jpgs look good.  I think it's a great solution for reviewing your work.
