it finally happened for me today

I went to pick up my M9 and was also offered new Noctilux 0.95

it was a Halloween afterparty with my kids so went shooting with above combination and could not be happier

The quality is just amazing.

One thing is with this combination i strongly advise to have a grip, which i had from my M8.

Without getting too technical images from M9 are so much better then M8

Happy Halloween

JEV,

You have some taken very nice photos with both your M9 and M8. The M9 Nocti photos are quite nice for just messing around. Its a great combo. However, if one is truly attached to 50 mm and can afford it, I recommend a 50 lux ASPH as well as the Nocti. It has much less flare and is tiny compared to the Nocti ASPH which is really a beast (but the kind of beast one can really love).

Piero, you have some nice M9 shots as well.

So, you go to pick up your $7000 M9, then casually decide on the spur of the moment to also get a $10,000 Noctilux? That must be a nice feeling. Didn't happen to buy a car on your way home, did you? ;)

Better cameras than crack -- or, as I'm fond of telling my wife, "At least it keeps me off the streets!". This does NOT imply, of course, that she's particularly fond of hearing this...

I don't like expensive cars, hence i can buy things that i consider important for me

S2 is too much for me, i tried it it's great, heavy and huge, probably the best for studio work

on the side note, now I know i need to practice how to focus this lens fast and accurately

Have you considered using a viewfinder magnifier ? The 1.25x or even 1.4x should help with the Noct

I'm happy for you but not yet persuaded 'quality is just amazing.' Like Piero, I noticed you've had some initial difficulty with focus. Only the one of the red-haired woman seems to hit the mark, but is it f.95? And I don't see any special Nocti 'glow,' just very good low-light photography.

I use the final version of the pre-A Lux with a 1.35 magnifier that also offers diopter adjustment. Pretty good bokeh, low contrast like Nocti, & much more accurate focus than you're initially getting at the wider aperture. If/when M9 comes, wouldn't want to try Nocti until I see what one can do with Lux. Nocti is a heavy & expensive trade-off, with focus so difficult & apparently not so 'special' a look with this new version? And if M9 sensor allows higher ISO setting, that makes up perhaps for Lux being limited to f1.4.

Or am I just rationalizing all the money I plan to save?

Great set, jev! Pure enthusiasm throughout!

Looks like a great party for the kids and for you both. :)

Love the sign "urge"! I'm delighted to know there are folks like you around who can feed their urges with equipment like this and then get something so nice to show from it!

Congratulations!

Jev, Congrats lovely combo.

Still waiting for my 9 to arrive. :D

Just because I don't particularly love Flicker... how about taking a look at something like Zenfolio, it is sooooo much nicer for paging through a gallery and presenting images in general. yup, its just my personal opinion... but...

Jev,

absolutely amazing set of images! What else could be the outcome with that combo :)

I am still waiting for my M9 and I will use my "old" Nocti on it - looking forward to this ;)

Enjoy your M9 and Nocti!

Same here... Hopefully before Xmas...

Great pictures Jev! And I agree with Bo: Zenfolio looks much better (although I must admit I haven't yet dropped my Flickr account).
