Lens hood

FWIW, The same square one that is delivered with the Asph (12526) works perfectly with my old Version 1 as well. Moreover, the one I bought second-hand for the V 1 years ago is absolutely identical to the new one, only the part number is 12524 instead (Rogliatti states that the part number was 12504 for the hoods originally delivered with both V 1 and V2) .

So, since Printmaker says it fits the V 4 tool, and all have the 39 mm filter thread, it seems likely they would fit the V 3 as well, but I have no way to check.

I've used a 12504 with my v2 since I bought it new about 1971, and filters work fine with it. You can use either an E39 screw-in filter, or unscrew the front of the hood and mount a series filter between the halves.

Last year I picked up a Chinese copy of the 12504 on eBay (for my v1), which is fairly good, except that the spring clips are stronger so it is harder to mount/unmount.

Just bought a summicron v2 35mm.

It didn't come with a lens hood.

What lens hood does it use? and can UV/IR filter be screwed on with the hood?

MIne came with a 12504 vented lens hood which once unscrewed from its base holds Series VII filters. Nice compact lens. The hood does not screw in since it is a spring clip type hood.

Series 7 Leica UV/IR filters (# 13421) are difficult to find out second hand and are expensive new (about $180).

One can use E49 UV/IR filters (# 13412) upside down instead though and they work just as well.

BTW Rocolax makes inexpensive E49 UV/IR filters but i don't know if they fit the 12504 hood.
