Advertisement Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Hi anderswi, Take a look here Leica M9.5. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ezc203 Posted December 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 18, 2010 After reading Mr Babsky's "controversial" article on the digital Ms, you can see where his interests in photography lies, as well as his abilities. For Steve to include articles like such on his website is really a lack of quality control, IMO.
Dan States Posted December 19, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 19, 2010 Yeah, his logic and methodology are daft. The best part of the article is seeing the comments of people who are ready to chew off each others eyebrows. The reaction once again proves that Leica attracts more angry middle aged men than any other camera brand. Its so easy to inflame people via the Internet I almost think he did it just to build hits to the site. I should write an article on my blog comparing the m9 with my iphone4 camera...oops, I mean m10.5. A few half assed comparisons and it's hit-city! marknorton Posted December 19, 2010 Share #4 Posted December 19, 2010 The usual over-use of exclamation marks and why he chose to put a goggled 135 Elmarit in the side-by-side comparison shot is beyond me. He also seems to think 2 * 75 = 140 and that an MFT Leica would sell lots more Leica glass, completely forgetting Leica are already selling all they can make. I could go on but will not. I should not have spent 5 minutes of my life reading and commenting on this tripe.
250swb Posted December 19, 2010 Share #5 Posted December 19, 2010 I can't see what the fuss is about. After reading through the article trying to find something deeply controversial all I find are opinions formed from using a camera that he likes. The biggest laugh are the replies from dyed in the wool Leica users who think it heresy to have fun and try a creative approach to equipment. God forbid they should make a photograph instead of polishing the buckles on their Fogg bags while discussing rules about photography on the internet. Ecaton Posted December 19, 2010 Share #6 Posted December 19, 2010 I don't see a reason to comment on the article, I think it speaks for itself. What I never understood, though, is how some seem to be able to reliably manually focus longer/bulkier m-mount lenses on a GF1 at arm's length, and particularly fast lenses. And "longer" already includes 50mm. I had the GF1 and also the EP2 and thanks to IS and pretty good EVF, MF with the Oly was ok, though not really fun. So after figuring out that i) I did'n like the crop factor, ii) wider lenses did not work properly on mfts and iii) longer/bulkier lenses were not fun to use I concluded that mft as backup to Leica M bodies (film and digital) was not for me. I like the mft system for what it is. But it is by no means an equal or backup to a Leica M8 or M9.

anderswi Posted December 25, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted December 25, 2010 Well, what can you say? If you invested i a M9, your bloodpressure for sure will rise. Leica must soon get on the EVIL bandwagon, so all the R-lensusers don`t have to go to Canon EOS via adapter. Even M-users should profit from such a thing. Imagine videos with your Leica lenses on Leica equipment!
farnz Posted December 25, 2010 Share #9 Posted December 25, 2010 ... Imagine videos with your Leica lenses on Leica equipment! I can already do it, though I choose not to, with a Leica D-Lux 5 so why would I need to imagine it? Pete.
lct Posted December 26, 2010 Share #10 Posted December 26, 2010 Another reviewer ignoring what M stands for. It's the same guy who ignores that R4 to R7 were small cameras, who says that he does not "see the point" of rangefinders, that the Leica X1 is "ridiculous", that "Leica's marketing never mentions" the fact that M cameras don't work with zoom lenses, that the M9 is a "dinosaur", that the lenses of his M8.2 were "all wrong", and the like. Sure you can, but not with the depth of field you get with M- or R-optics.
Jamie Roberts Posted December 29, 2010 Share #12 Posted December 29, 2010 {snipped}Leica must soon get on the EVIL bandwagon, so all the R-lensusers don`t have to go to Canon EOS via adapter. {snipped} That's a truly illogical statement. What on earth does an EVIL have to do with keeping users from using, say, an 80R Lux on a 5d2--for video, I might add (or on a Nikon, for that matter)? Surely choice of viewfinder has nothing to do with video, or with quality, or (I hope, but I know better) with a Leica R solution.
anderswi Posted December 30, 2010 Author Share #13 Posted December 30, 2010 Hello! As you see on this site, the loyalty to the Leica mark, is very strong. In fact so strong that people buy rebadged cameras. R-users has been left by Leica. EVIL is the next generation of cameras. Regards.
