doug_m Posted May 23, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 23, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anyone confirm that the new Noctilux has begun to ship in the US? Riccis on this forum has said that Sammy's and Dale Photo have received them but I'm confused because other sources have indicated it could be months more before the lens is out. Which information is correct? Thanks
Advertisement Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Hi doug_m, Take a look here Noctilux ASPH 0.95. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted May 23, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 23, 2009 I get the impression the lens is being made in miniscule quantities, if at all. There was a post here, I think someone bought it for $9995 but whether it happened I do not know, I feel sure we would have seen some images by now. I've been on the list at my dealer in the UK since December and, AFAIK, am the only person on it. The last news I had was that someone not already on the list would not get one this year; that is not to say of course that people who are on a list WILL get one... Rumour abounds as to the reasons for the delay but it was only ever going to be available in February... I'm hoping to get mine before the end of the year to avoid a (likely) big increase in our VAT/Sales Tax.
Guest maddoc2003jp Posted May 25, 2009 Share #3 Posted May 25, 2009 Over there at dpreview.com (in the Leica sub-forum) somebody has posted first example photos taken with his copy of the lens. He waited ~ 3 month and there seem to be only very very few copies delivered so far.
Maarten van Druten Posted May 25, 2009 Share #4 Posted May 25, 2009 Does anybody know how many aperture blades the new F0.95 Noctilux has? (I couldn't find it in the technical PDF on the Leica website)

Aaron S Posted May 25, 2009 Share #6 Posted May 25, 2009 I received one from Popflash on Friday of last week. They are being shipped, but my understanding is in very small quantities from Leica.
marknorton Posted May 25, 2009 Share #7 Posted May 25, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry, Leica need to sort themselves out and get this lens into series production. This price is ridiculous. I have a committed price of about 60% of this price.

marknorton Posted May 27, 2009 Share #15 Posted May 27, 2009 I wanted to speak to Ivor at Red Dot and get him to light a fire under Leica for me, but he's sadly had a family bereavement and RDC is closed until 1 June.
JBA Posted May 27, 2009 Share #16 Posted May 27, 2009 Leica Ginza in Tokyo had one on display when I was in there last week. There was no price listed, so I assumed it was the only example they had. Leica recently featured photos of two of the technicians involved in assembling the new Nocti on the fansite they maintain on Facebook.
dfarkas Posted May 28, 2009 Share #17 Posted May 28, 2009 Yes. We have received our first shipment of the new Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. I had a chance to shoot with one last week and posted pictures and my impressions on my blog at David Farkas Photography Blog. The reality is there is an extremely small number of these lenses out in the wild right now. I would venture to guess that there are less than 20 in the US, but this is just a guess. rdbzhch Posted May 28, 2009 Share #18 Posted May 28, 2009 On 12-May my dealer called to say that as of that date there were 4 Noctilux f0.95/50m.m. lenses in the United States. He said he would receive one on the 14th and send it right off to me. The lens arrived on 15-May. rdb.

David Hi David, I bet you have used the F1.0 b4 and how would you compare it with F0.95? is the F0.95 easier to focus? Tks DL
