Ignorance is a bitch...

When I travelled with film , airport security were not really issues. There are bags tot keep film safe. Ok, it ‘s a little more hassle. But films and hassle have always been. and all of us know, that digital has no hassle at all😉

What I notice is, that the film M is special. Because I only have 36 chances to do it right, I actually make different choices what I shoot. These choices result in a slightly different kind of photography which makes me happy and brings me back to time that photography looked simple to me and was more fun, than work. Emotion snd nostalgia make it happen, but that’s not such a bad thing . Is it? I like the results which are not perfect , but are giving me a new impuls at looking at scenes. Also the use of yellow and red filters on the lens where something I missed in the M10 Maybe an M11 Monochrom would do the same, but I do not know if I want to shoot so much pictures to justify the purchase. just a film rol :

If that is the fact, why should you even use al Leica M . There are better camera's if only the workflow /print it the goal. No I believe that taking a picture with an MP /M6 is a totally different feeling compared with an M, M10,M11 etc. although the feeling is very very subtle .

I’m glad my 3 chrome m’s will last a liftime… Leica promised at the beginning of the MP production, that they will have spare parts untill 25 year after discontinuing the MP .

I notice this week that the film scanning in shops is getting better. There must be a growing market for it.

Just thinking about this wonderful classic newly designed lenses, made me wonder about the economics behind this: “ old wine in new barrels” ? Is Leica doing this because so many costomers like these old lenses, or just making new stock with “ designs that already have worked “ so the devellipenent costs are much lower?

I’m sorry but I never saw cases as a abomination because I only use the camera part. They protect my camera against the first impacts of my sweatty hands and the leather protects against all kind of stratches . I have used them on my Leica M’s for 28 years now and I see them as a useful part of my equippement.

A few months ago I bought a hardly used Leica case. I thought my original ( first picture with daughter) Leica M case from 35 years ago. The old one looked exactly the same but on this case the bottom loosened. I brought it to my shoemaker. He said it was genuine leather but the stiches in the bottom ( last picture) were not actually to attach the bottom to the case. No, it was glued and that glue had dried up. Does anyone have had the same experience or does someone knows if the cases are made cheaper the last twenty years.

I had some difficulties with the Elmarit- M 90mm on my new M8 long time ago so Leica callibrated the lens and applied six bit on it. ( didn’t cost me a lot ). Then it was ok. With the 75 summicron there were issues. I tried three lenses for a few weeks, all second hand, but they were not in focus. I don’t know why . But still i’m interested a 75mm summicron. Maybe a fourth one? After seeing this thread it’s on my mind.

What are those parallel lines? Electricity or stripes from the negative?
