Advertisement Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Hi viramati, Take a look here hk 1.25 magnifer. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Walt Calahan Posted October 9, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 9, 2009 I use one on an M6 TTL. Why do you ask?
mikki Posted October 9, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 9, 2009 I'm using it on the M8 and it does its job well. It makes the viewfinder -appear- smaller (e.g. you cant see the 24 frameline) and its a bit difficult to see the 35 lines with glasses. Other than that, it makes the rangefinder patch -a lot- bigger. It's handy with the 75/90 lenses. For 135, I think it's a must.
fotografr Posted October 9, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 9, 2009 I also use one on the M8 and it works fine for me.
wda Posted October 9, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 9, 2009 The eyepiece doesn't appear to have a soft surround to prevent spectacle wearers suffering scratched glasses. I may be mistaken; an owner will confirm, I'm sure. Neither is the item tethered to the camera like the Leica one. There is thus a greater risk of loss. viramati Posted October 9, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted October 9, 2009 I want to use it with a 85 mm lens and was just wondering if it is up to the job. the leica version is over £200 which seems to be a total rip off especially if this one only cost £34!! ChrisC Posted October 9, 2009 Share #7 Posted October 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I want to use it with a 85 mm lens and was just wondering if it is up to the job.....! I doubt it is a strong enough magnification, I use mine for 35mm and 50mm. If you do a Search on viewfinder magnifiers, you might well find an old thread which fully answers your concerns. ........ eleskin Posted October 10, 2009 Share #8 Posted October 10, 2009 Price cant be beat. I bought one for my Noctilux for obvious reasons, and my focus is dead on!!!
jaay Posted October 10, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 10, 2009 I had one and found it uncomfortable to use with glasses and, yes, it did scratch them as there is no rubber ring on the outside. I also found it 'dulled' the viewfinder image and the 1.4x leica magnifier I subsequently bought is much much better.

Yes the Leica equivalent includes a nylon string to thether - but costs 10 times as much... I have the HKG version - works perfect and as said before is a must for 135mm
Hausen17 Posted October 12, 2009 Share #11 Posted October 12, 2009 I really like my one. I am left eye dominant and it keeps my nose away from LC display. Bought it so I could focus closer and that works well, my nose and the display is a great bonus.
underground Posted October 12, 2009 Share #12 Posted October 12, 2009 Try to use both eye's when focusing with the 1.25 magnifier. It's not for all but it works great for me.
Jeff S Posted October 12, 2009 Share #13 Posted October 12, 2009 Try to use both eye's when focusing with the 1.25 magnifier. It's not for all but it works great for me. Your eyes must be very, very close together. Jeff
JSU Posted October 13, 2009 Share #14 Posted October 13, 2009 I use the HK 1.25x magnifier on a M8.2 with my CV 35/1.2 and use the Leica 1.4x magnifier for lenses 60mm and longer. This isn't quite as clean and simple a solution as my M6 with the .85x finder, but it is better than just the native .68x finder of the M8.2.

devils-advocate Posted October 15, 2009 Share #16 Posted October 15, 2009 I had both the Leica and the KH 1.25x magnifiers and couldn't tell the difference. If I buy an M9 I will buy another mag, though I will look closely at the the 1.25x from match technical (the chap who makes the Thumbsup) because it has a soft eyecup. Guest mc_k Posted October 15, 2009 Share #17 Posted October 15, 2009 I like the Megaperls magnifiers (they go under a new name now). They are somewhere between the price of the Leica and the HK magnifier. I have owned the Leica 1.25.

ampguy Posted October 15, 2009 Share #19 Posted October 15, 2009 I have one, but never use it, the form factor doesn't it allow ti fit in my bag easily without removing. If I were to get a magnifier, I'd probably get a Megaperls (Japan Exposures) with built in diopter and smaller rounder form factor. I have one of these for my RD1.
