M8.2 & 135mm Apo-Telyt

One of my favorite reptiles.

Walking through the bush we picked up this chameleon off the ground and placed him in a tree, however not before I grabbed a shot of him.

The most amazing thing about Chameleons is their eyes. The upper and lower eyelids are joined, with only a pinhole large enough for the pupil to see through. They can rotate their eyes and focus separately to observe two different objects simultaneously, which gives them a full 360-degree field of vision around their body. When prey is located, both eyes can be focused in the same direction, giving sharp stereoscopic vision and depth perception. Of all the reptiles they have the best vision, which allows them to see even the smallest of insects from long distances.

Thanks for viewing.

One of the greatest charms of central to southern Africa and Madagascar are the chameleons. Excellent shot in every way. The last ones we saw were in Rwanda. Careful, though, he's clearly eying your carotid artery.
