telyt Posted November 23, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Alaska sent us a beautiful crop of Tundra Swans this year. Technical stuff: R8/DMR, ISO 400, 560mm f/6.8, heavily cropped. And I do mean HEAVILY cropped. Northern San Joaquin County California, just outside Lodi. Yes there really is a Lodi and I've never been stuck there.

fernando_b Posted November 23, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 23, 2006 So, a couple of conclusions: - excellent technique, - excellent stuff. Fernando.
leicamann Posted November 23, 2006 Share #3 Posted November 23, 2006 Great shot Doug. Now obviously this is the point where the birds are "spooked" right? They are so hard to get close to. You either make a blind or need a Hubble telescope to get in close enough. Thanks for sharing Regards, Leicamann
larry Posted November 23, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 23, 2006 Hi Doug, Terrific shot -- I really like the way the feathers flair at the wing tips. Larry

stuny Posted November 24, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 24, 2006 Doug - I've missed seeing your work. Excellent moment for "pose", stop action and framing. The tipoff that it is very heavily cropped is the background noise -- You'll see some of that in a day or two when I post photos on my site from Papua New Guinea.
