wparsonsgisnet Posted October 1, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 1, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had to go into town on Saturday, the 19th, and the car I got only was r-e-a-l-l-y crowded. I noticed that the guy if fron of me was in a *white* tux jacket -- and so was the guy next to him. the,n I realized the entire wedding party was on the way into Boston -- on the subway! A new one for me. Fortunately, I had my trusty M8 with me, so I juggled the sticky bun, cup of coffee, book, and camera bag over my shoulder to get some shots. They looked really happy. BTW, these are processed in C1-Pro 4.8.3, which I am trying. Nice software. I should have purchased the Pro version a long time ago.

stuny Posted October 1, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 1, 2009 Bill - A fun and well executed series. I do hope you've seen the second best romantic comedy I've ever seen - Next Stop Wonderland.

Andrew Spackman Posted October 1, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 1, 2009 Great stuff Bill! A most unusual series. Did the front subway car have a white ribbon over it to show that it was a wedding car? Andrew
wparsonsgisnet Posted October 1, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted October 1, 2009 #2 is my fav, also. Tnx. It certainly was unusual. I was so stunned that it took me a couple of stops to remember that I had the M8 with me, then to figure out how to juggle book, coffee, sticky bun, and camera -- without turning the camera into a coffee-soaked, sticky-M8. I feel pretty good since I was holding the camera over my head for most of the shots. There were also 2 official photogs with them, two young women standing in front (right in front!) and to my left, toting slr's. Pic #5 shows the arm of the one in front of me. I decided to include the space inside her arm in the jphoto. Then when I got to my stop, I forgot to get off. Fortunately, it was Park Street, where the doors on one side close first. When I woke from my stunned stupor of pic-watchfulness, I excused myself, walked thru where the bride and groom (at least they looked like that) were standing and wished them well. Even the feel of the wedding party was good -- not kids who might be making a mistake, but a sensible, slightly jolder couple who clearly were heading where they wanted to go. Thanks for the comments.

wparsonsgisnet Posted October 1, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted October 1, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ben, thanks for the note. I was just about to email you to let you know I had heeded your suggestion to post some pix. This part of the day was the best part for me, anyway. It was a treat to meet you at the Big Leica Event and to spend time talking and munching. Best regards,

wda Posted October 3, 2009 Share #10 Posted October 3, 2009 Bill, is this what is called 'journalistic' coverage of a wedding? It is a marvelous series, very well executed and highly successful. I judge the latter by the fact that your M8 escaped damage from the sticky bun!

Thats a great series and just shows that "f8 and be there" still applies ..at least for street work. You didn t have much time and more than a few distractions..LOL ...thanks for sharing. wparsonsgisnet Posted October 5, 2009 Author Share #16 Posted October 5, 2009 these pics make for great viewing. thanks. What lens? 35 lux-a. I'm really looking forward to having it on the M9 -- and also to going back to using the 50 lux-a. It's just too long on the M8.

Roger, best regards -- it was terrific to be at the Big Event with you. I'm sacrificing the 21 lux to get the M8. If I could get the gig for a few of these weddings, I could get that lens, too. wdcraig1992 Posted October 5, 2009 Share #19 Posted October 5, 2009 Very good shots, this certainly tops my list of the most random things I've heard all week. I'm going to have to say that the last shot is my favorite though, principally because the man is completely oblivious to the camera and looks as if he is looking right down the brides dress! Have to love us guys and our sometimes, ermm..., curious nature.
wparsonsgisnet Posted October 6, 2009 Author Share #20 Posted October 6, 2009 Bill, really a great and funny story. #6 is my favorit. (Still no M9?) Reiner, good to hear from you.
