Advertisement Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Hi rick_dykstra, Take a look here D 700 with R lenses versus DMR. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
roguewave Posted October 6, 2009 Share #42 Posted October 6, 2009 It's interesting to note that the Canon solution has been largely left out of the equation. I do agree with Roger's comments. I shot with both the 5D II and the D700. First, the DMR is still, by a wide margin the finest digital slr as long as you stay at iso 400 or below. At iso 100, NOTHING comes close. The Leica glass helps on both japanese bodies, but they just don't have "The Look". I'm sure they are fine for those that aren't used to the DMR, but once you've had her, it's hard to stray. JHAG Posted October 6, 2009 Share #43 Posted October 6, 2009 This morning I phoned the Customer Service in Solms again and I got the same answer: At the moment there are no DMR repairs possible! (there might be very sporadic exceptional cases, very sporadic!) And they told me that they have been into negotiations with the producer, with incalculable results, of course.I'm afraid we have to face the facts - krauklis I talked to Solms this morning : Leica and "their partner" (supposedly Kodak and/or Imacon) discuss the matter in 3 weeks from now, it has been said. What matter ? Servicing the DMR ? Or finding it a successor ? My counterpart in Solms was intrigued, because my call was the 6-th or 7-th since yesterday suddenly about the DMR. The power of the web. Maybe they'll observe as we keep clamouring for an R10!
wildlightphoto Posted October 7, 2009 Share #45 Posted October 7, 2009 Would you buy a used DMR in very good condition ? I did, from a private party. The R8 body that came with it was essentially free because the expected cost of repairing the shutter was about what a good functional R8 is worth. I repaired the shutter in a few minutes with a partly-straightened paper clip and a thumb. Both DMR and R8 are now working well.
rick_dykstra Posted October 7, 2009 Share #46 Posted October 7, 2009 If you're finished with it, could you send me your paperclip? I have my own thumb.

leicamr Posted October 8, 2009 Share #48 Posted October 8, 2009 Thats the trouble with servicing Leica, you need specialist tools G. I think that's the trouble with any camera manufacturer or most products made today. Mark
