Advertisement Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Hi jaapv, Take a look here M9 Flash shoe slightly too small. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sean_reid Posted September 25, 2009 Share #22 Posted September 25, 2009 So it seems - my pocket wizards do not fit properly - they slide on most of the way, with difficulty, and enough to activate, but not quite all the way. Anyone else finding this? M9 proving excellent in the field as a working camera - probably no surprise to some of you, but this is my first Leica - and despite the dodgy preview on screen, seems to come up trumps. But the flash shoe is slightly annoying. At least there's no danger of the PW slipping off. The hot shoes on some of the M8s (and some of the M9s as well) can be a bit tight. Cheers, Sean
UliWer Posted September 25, 2009 Share #23 Posted September 25, 2009 Hama has a cable-to-hotshoe adapter Is it flat enough, so the Viso-Finder will fit above it?
jaapv Posted September 25, 2009 Share #24 Posted September 25, 2009 No - about 8 mm. But it is the other way around, to convert a socket to a hot shoe - M3 stuff... There used to be an inverse one as well, hot shoe to cable, but that was as high.
giordano Posted September 25, 2009 Share #25 Posted September 25, 2009 They used to understand. The old universal viewfinders had an accessory shoe on top, and the little CHICO flashgun's mounting had an accessory shoe for a viewfinder.
johnbuckley Posted September 25, 2009 Share #26 Posted September 25, 2009 Thanks! I understand, but I find it a bit arrogant to tell me what I should use or not use, even more, when he doesn't know my work. Sorry - didn't mean to come off as arrogant. You asked if I had any thoughts about how to solve the problem of your wanting to have a flash shoe perform multiple functions. And my thought was: that's not really possible on this camera. So maybe it's not right for you. Wasn't trying to pick a fight.

It is just not possible to use a flash when shooting with a 24, 21, or 18mm. Luckily I'm not a fan of flashes, but others might want to use a flash with the wides. GlennB Posted October 2, 2009 Share #28 Posted October 2, 2009 The solution is simple- fit a shoe taken from an old flash bracket on top of a Nikon flash cable connector. The problem is of course the alignment, but any instrument maker should be able to do that. Just to illustrate what Jappv posted. I made this about 7 years ago when using my M6s with my 21mm 2.8 asph and a metz flash. My workmanship wasn't the best on this as I had to make this work for an upcoming assignment, but it Did work.
