M9 and Luigi Half Case, a question

Wanted to let you all know that Luigi contacted me after I posted the pictures of the marks on my M8 in the early part of this thread. I sent him pictures which he analyzed in details. Luigi is convinced that the problem comes from the fact that my M8 is one of the very early ones, that came with a bad metal finish. To make sure it would not happen again, even with the early M8's, he modified the stitches thread.

Hope it shows how Luigi care about his product. I feel confident that this problem is resolved so will probably order a case to protect my M9 in extended trips (whenever this camera dares arrive ...)

It may have been a problem with the dye in some stitching, and leaving the camera in the case for a prolonged period. There was an earlier post about a chrome M8 with non-permanent marks from the stitches. Anyway, I would take Luigi's "totally solved" at face value, and not hesitate to buy a case. They protect the finish from oils and scratches.

The change he made to the case is to make a a much thinner inner thread, so it gets less exposed to direct contact I guess. There is no roughness over the stitches on mine, to the opposite I would say, the contact to the metal smoothened them.

But my case also got some of the red interiors that got stained in black due to contact. So really, it can only be the camera loosing its pain which should not happen. As said earlier, this is one of the very early M8's, this problem was apparently not detected on later cameras.

I am using a Luigi half case (rally brown) with case grip and hanging flap on my chrome M8.2 really like it. No issue of any stitching mark on my camera.

However, I hope Luigi can use stitching on camera strap as I have repaired the glued leather "link" piece twice since using it for less than a year.

Not one scratch on the screen after 2 years.

Just some 'wear and tear' on the body, bit of brass showing where there is no protection of the case.

The version with build-in grip lifts the ergonomics to a higher level.

(Pict is from 2007)

Bit of vintage look after 2 years of abuse... but still fits as a glove.

has anyone had an Artist & Artisan half case for their M8/8.2/9? I know they're different than Luigi's cases, but I want a case to protect my M and a shop near me carries the A&A's (not to mention that Luigi hasn't repsonded to me in over 2 months so I'm tired of waiting).

are they good cases?

I just got one for my M8.2. It is a very nicely made case. The sides come up to even with the top plate so looks like it will provide good protection. I have no experience with the Leica or Luigi half cases so I can't offer a comparison.

Sometimes I think I like the Luigi case more than the M8. But I really like leather and Luigi really knows how to fit the case like a glove to the camera. I think any camea feels strange without a leather case on it. I have the one with the built-in hand grip and hanging flap. The grip makes it much easier to hold the camera, especially with one hand. I pay little attention to the hanging flap. I always close it when I turn off the camera while not in use. I often shoot with the flap hanging down, hardly noticing that it's there. Cannot imagine using a M8 or M9 (or even my M6) without a Luigi case.

Just received my luigi case. I'm not one to swoon over anything but this case really is spectacular. At first glance j didn't like the detail of stitching for where the thumbs up cutout would go, but in the end I feel like there's character to

it. I can't wait for it to wear in. It only took a week to get! Wouldve been a shorter time if FedEx hadn't messed up and attempted delivery to the wrong address 3 times. A side note: if you ever need to ship

something to NYC, I recommend

using UPS or USPS WWWWAY over using FedEx.

I ordered my Luigi half case on a Sunday night and it was on my desk in California on Thursday morning. I love high quality leather, own a few pairs of very expensive, hand made, Italian shoes. The Luigi case is top notch and smells beautifully. Now if I can just get a camera to fill it up!:D
