My son on the Monza banking in 2000. It is extremely difficult to climb up to the guard rail. The surface is very bumpy and I couldn't see modern F1 cars holding together. They would have to be redesigned no doubt.

Not as steep and smoother than some of the velodromes I raced on! The one on the shore of Lake Garda was an absolute bastard, Mussolini's concrete layers were crap. Admittedly Monza is "a little longer" in length. ;)

 

Superb shot Tony but it looks older than 2000, maybe it's that wonderful, ancient camera?

Pete - I think it was my old Leica III but I'm not sure. It could possibly be 1999. I took my two sons and a friend of their's to Monza and was able to do a few fast laps of the then current full grand prix circuit but on the strict instruction to avoid any incident. Marvellous.
