erl Posted November 19, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 19, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) A selection of my 'out takes' from the Paris One Challenge. 1. The first is a bride and groom in a veteran car on one of the bridges over the Seine, just near the Petit palace. I think I muscled in on the official photographer. Anyway, she looked a bit stunned when I appeared. 2. Second is a beautiful shape of part of a staircase in the Petit Palace. I was desperate for someone to walk just where I wanted them and sto top and look at the sculpture. The man in the pic is in the right place, but he didn't stop. 3. Third is a man sitting between two shadows, looking 'trapped', by them which , to me, fitted his situation. The left hand shadow is in fact me. You can see the camera was used as a 'hip shot' for this image. 4. Fourth is a streetwalk sales girl doing what she is there for.

larry Posted November 19, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 19, 2006 Erl, I agree with the others, these are all excellent but the third shot is uber-excellent. :-) Larry
christoph_d Posted November 19, 2006 Share #5 Posted November 19, 2006 Hi Erl, My favourite shot from your selection would be the second. Although, as you said, it would be perfect with the right "onlooker" - which might easily cost you an entire afternoon. However, for the challenge I think you selected the right shot, as, in my opinion, it speaks mostly of "Paris". What was your choice of Equipment for these? Rgds, C. stunsworth Posted November 19, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 19, 2006 Erl, I really like the second one. In fact I prefer it to the one you chose :-) To be honest all of these are good. The alternatives are proving to be very interesting.
ejd Posted November 19, 2006 Share #9 Posted November 19, 2006 More splendid pictures, Erl. Actually of these four I'd go for no 1 and no 4. I envy your fearless people photography in the street. John
stuny Posted November 20, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 20, 2006 Erl - You came quite some distance for the event, but I assume you got back home in time for the Cup (expect some photos from me posted soon). I like them all, but 1&2 really speak to me. Lovely ideas, tones framing and execution. But why is the bride sitting behind the groom instead of next to him? erl Posted November 21, 2006 Author Share #11 Posted November 21, 2006 Erl - But why is the bride sitting behind the groom instead of next to him? Stuny, I only take the pictures, I don't ask questions of the subject because it breaks the 'flow'. But I agree! Why? I hit the situation, shot 4 or 5 frames in maybe 20seconds, and moved on. Cheers, Erl
