Microlenses don't "react" to anything, but they may produce different results depending on the optical formula used in front of them, regardless of manufacturer For example, I suspect a Leica Super-Angulon 21mm f/3.4 may not work as well on the M9 as a Leica 21 Elmarit, simply because its optical design (non-retrofocus) is so different from post-1980 Leica wideangle designs. Generally speaking, in terms of vignetting, I'd guess that any lens that allows Leica M metering is already sitting far enough ahead of the focal plane to be correctible for vignetting and microlens-induced color fringing, if coded in some form (including c/v lenses) In terms of corner sharpness, it is going to depend pretty much on the specific lens. I imagine that the M9 will reveal the relative weakness of my 21 pre-ASPH in the corners - just as film did. So do i but they could suspect that an FF body would be launched soon or late i guess and film users have been using an external finder for 10+ years haven't they. My guess is that 24 Summilux users will either get used to an external viewfinder or try to see how well they can frame using the entire viewfinder. Here, .68 rather than .72 might be a small help. Now I will never have the chance to see a 35mm noct.. . Seeing Leica's late addiction to extra wide opened wide angles I had some bad dreams about a 35mm Noctilux (for 12.000,-€) as well. May be, you should try at your dealer or wait until somebody tells his experiences. Taking the full viewfinder has been a good way with wide angles and no frames since the Leica M was introduced. Leica's illustrations of the M viewfinder give the impression that there is lots of room around the largest frameline. In reality, the largest frameline is usually touching or even well into the "black" area around the window. Trying to see outside that frame for a wider lens - well, some kid themselves they can do it effectively. Good imaginations. The M9 finder has the same magnification as the M8 - the widest frameline on the 9 is for a 28 Fov - the widest frame on the M8 is for a "32mm" field of view (24 cropped substantially). The M8s "24" lines are pretty tight to the edge (and still not very accurate). The M9s 28 lines will be even iffier. Welcome, dear visitor! A little annoyed Then again I use my 18 SE without finder now so it won't be any different with the 24 on FF.
