let's recap what everybody and their uncle was so shure about:

- there won't be a new M released on 9.9.09

- there will never be a full-frame M, its physically impossible

- the new M will be AF

- the new M will have a manual recock

- the framelines will be LCD

- the new M will be much smaller (digital CL)

- it will have live view

- Leica will go bancrupt before they release another M

- all their developing power is in the s2, therefore it will take years to get a new M

....what did I forget?

for now it seems, all didn't come true, and I am very glad about that...

Apart from the first two, most of the others were simply on a few people's wishlists rather than solid M9 predictions.

I'm also glad they didn't come true, but I must say I'm amazed by how many people suddenly revised their idea of the Laws of Physics, and also suddenly realized that a cropped sensor was NOT the optimal solution for their lenses, after all.

It was not that many people revised their idea of the law of physics, it was Kodak or whovever designed the sensor that did a formidable job.

We haven't seen the vignetting yet , but anyhow the manufacturer of this sensor must have made a huge step forward in comparison with existing sensors equiped with microlenses to make this possible at all.

From own experience I can tell you that very often the company who is setting up the specification is giving the major inputs for successful development. Not rarely it is much more than the licensor itself.

Ah, you forgot that "shure" is sure and "bancrupt" is bankrupt and I'm going to blame all my errors about the M9 on my aunt because my uncle is a Nikon user.:D

One of the things I have always liked about this forum is that we never use typos or crippled English as an argument. After all, we come from all over the world and we all have different levels of language skills.
