Herr Barnack Posted February 26, 2017 Share #61 Posted February 26, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Domke has stopped producing their photographer's vest, but L.L. Bean has a vest that is very similar - https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/63716?feat=510557-GN3&page=l-l-bean-traveler-vest Orvis and Barbour both offer several vests that would also be useful for photographers. The Halcon vest that euston has provided a link for looks like a good choice, too. I am still at a loss to understand the bad rap that vests have gotten; they match up quite well with other outdoors oriented clothing and are a useful piece of gear/apparel for photographers. Advertisement Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Hi Herr Barnack, Take a look here Has any one used a "photo vest". I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Luke_Miller Posted March 1, 2017 Share #62 Posted March 1, 2017 I find a vest is a great solution for carrying a lot of gear. Much easier on the back and shoulders than any bag I've tried. Mine is from The Vested Interest and will hold enough of my Nikon gear for any contingency. Unfortunately I don't have enough Leica gear to fill it up. http://www.vestedinterest.com/khumbu.htm
Wayne Posted March 1, 2017 Share #63 Posted March 1, 2017 This winter I have gone completely without a bag, using the many pockets in my Carhardt jacket instead. It has worked great. On one walk around town I was carrying MM1, IIIA leicas (lenses attached,) two medium format Zeiss folders, light meter, and plenty of rolls of film. It has worked out great. In fact, until I came across this thread, and realized I could just go to a vest, I have been dreading the return of warm weather.
pico Posted March 1, 2017 Share #64 Posted March 1, 2017 Wayne, a Carhartt blends in perfectly here, too.
Wayne Posted March 1, 2017 Share #65 Posted March 1, 2017 It is great stuff. Maybe I should just cut the lining out, remove the sleeves, and go with it. It's about 20 years old..........Time for a new one anyway.

If you don't have enough Leica gear to fill it, you could bring along your kitchen utensils and half the contents of your refrigerator and have a great picnic as well. Luke_Miller Posted March 1, 2017 Share #67 Posted March 1, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) That thing is enormous. It is. I needed a vest that would hold my full frame 300 f2.8. I suppose it is not really a vest in the normal sense of the word. It is more like a large camera bag that you wear.
chrism Posted March 4, 2017 Share #68 Posted March 4, 2017 I've never worn one, but my wife has a Tilley vest - the VOMP, vest of many pockets. Come to think of it, I don't remember seeing her wear it either. I was happy enough when I discovered the little matchbox pocket inside the front right pocket of LL Bean jeans holds three rolls of 120. C.
Michael Hiles Posted March 4, 2017 Share #69 Posted March 4, 2017 Dr. Paul Wolff, a famous Leica photographer working mainly between the wars, had a camera body for each lens, and an assistant (caddy?) who carried the cameras in readiness for Wolff. No word on whether the assistant had a vest. Beats a vest any day, it seems to me.

My wife has offered to carry a camera or two for me in the past, the problem was that when I needed one of the ones she had she had roamed off somewhere.
