Advertisement Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Hi rfleica, Take a look here A REAL dealer story about the M9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pascal_meheut Posted September 4, 2009 Share #22 Posted September 4, 2009 Question: when were the first M8's in customer hands? I know when it was announced & pre-prods were with reviewers (mid sept 2006). 30th of october, 2006. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/8297-my-m8-shop.html
eldelbo Posted September 4, 2009 Share #23 Posted September 4, 2009 OK OK. I have read all of the "there are too many M9 rumor posts" but I was curious about all of the "I talked to the dealer" posts so I talked to mine. His store is the biggest Leica dealer in my "region." I asked "tell me, what do you hear." He said "nothing." He said he has heard the same rumors as everyone. He said he "assumes" that 9-9-9 is a date well-suited for an M9 and that something will be announced but he doesn't know what. He said that Leica has scheduled a "training session" with his sales team in mid to late September. He said he could make a waiting list but with no price and no specs what's the use. So it sounds like it is just a big rumor mill. Certainly there will be an announcement but rumors about delivery dates et all are just that at this point... rumors. I've had a confirmation from 'my dealer' (makes Leica ownership sound like an addiction habit) that I can take delivery on "most likely 9th or 10th but certainly during September". Placed an order on that basis. 34 days ago I thought these rumours were all misplaced and wishful thinking...
luigi bertolotti Posted September 4, 2009 Share #24 Posted September 4, 2009 I just pictured the 9th in my head, attending one of the presentations at a reputable Leica dealership: "Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to our Leica presentation, it's 8 minutes past the hour, so I think we can unbox this beauty now, which is...a C-LUX 3 Pokemon Edition?" Seriously, I doubt any dealer would hold a small event without knowing what to present? On the other hand, maybe that's gonna be it - I should try and make it myself to Meister on that afternoon... Can be, indeed... they simply HOST the events... probably presentations done by Leica reps, who are to arrive that morning with proper BAGS... Peter Branch Posted September 4, 2009 Share #25 Posted September 4, 2009 Question: when were the first M8's in customer hands? I know when it was announced & pre-prods were with reviewers (mid sept 2006). In the UK I paid for mine on 31st October 2006 and collected it during the morning of 1st October 2006. I had had it on order from the day of the first official anouncement and had had all my lenses coded. I was in a somewhat "special" situation as I know that Leica wanted the first cameras to go to people whose feedback would be quick and authoritative. Within 36 hours of getting the camera I had identified in a phone call to Leica all the problems other than the green line from out of frame light sources and within 72 hours Leica UK had a CD with DNG files exhibiting all the then known imaging defects with the M8. Venkman Posted September 4, 2009 Share #26 Posted September 4, 2009 Can be, indeed... they simply HOST the events... probably presentations done by Leica reps, who are to arrive that morning with proper BAGS... If that would be the case, there's gonna be a solution to unemployment right there - I was under the impression that there's a whole bunch of events going to take place that day, all over Europe? Your dealer might not be doing anything, but take a look around the other threads on the forum. There are several official Leica dealers in more than one country that are hosting events between 9-14 September. At least one I know of expects to have the rumoured new product(s) available to fondle, with only the official pricing and availability to be revealed. They will also be taking orders, for delivery tbc....... but not out in the distant future.
ljclark Posted September 4, 2009 Share #28 Posted September 4, 2009 Try La Maison du Leica, Bd Beaumarchais, near Bastille from 15h to 20h, Paris Time. Looking at the Google views, that seems to be a concentration of photo-related stores. Correct?
giordano Posted September 4, 2009 Share #29 Posted September 4, 2009 I do not have any pre-production M9 for sure but I may have more clues. Anyway, I had been "lucky" to get one of the first M8 but never asked for it. Things happened that way, that's all.I'll probably get an M9 too but I'm in no hurry. Did not noticed being treated like a god but feel free to try, I may appreciate it Just so long as you don't treat us as if you were a god. The biggest concentration in Paris. Sometimes called Boulevard de la Photo for this, and sometimes Boulevard du Crime because of the 2nd hand prices. vertekijker Posted September 4, 2009 Share #35 Posted September 4, 2009 I placed my order for the M9 with my dealer two days ago. I wanted a silver/chrome one, but was told that it will be either black or platinum/grey. The order was accepted by the distributor for Belgium, so the thing must exist. ------------------ Frans
TimF Posted September 4, 2009 Share #36 Posted September 4, 2009 No doubt! We know the camera will be released in France first. Don't bank on getting one from the dealer who was taking deposits, if what I heard is true.

KM-25 Posted September 4, 2009 Share #40 Posted September 4, 2009 I also believe at least 1 special customer is already out shooting his M9 happily... I sure hope it is a talented professional with a brilliant eye and a appetite for light instead of the typical "Internet-gear-test-hero".
