I've had the same fantasy, as I expect others have too. I'm beginning to think the DMR was a mistake because it set our expectations too high. I'm beginning to think the DMR was a mistake because it set our expectations too high. Maybe, maybe not - if they can make it I don't think they cannot "integrate" it - I want a full frame but by the time a APS size will work. Well no R solution correct? I missed the 9/9 announcement and I'm not surprised.

integrale Posted September 11, 2009 Share #35 Posted September 11, 2009 I know that many have tried the leitax.com solution and are quite happy with it; I will be converting a couple of Elmarit-R's to Nikon F some time next week and I'll let you know how it works out on a D300 :-)
andybarton Posted September 11, 2009 Share #36 Posted September 11, 2009 I am extremely happy with my D700 and the Leitax mounts on my 28 and 60 Elmarit-Rs. I will be buying a couple more mounts for two more lenses shortly. Having used a DMR for several years, I find it much easier to get decent colour first time, every time, with the D700 than I ever did with the DMR. The AWB is fantastic and it's a real pleasure to be able to use the lenses at their native focal lengths again. Don't get me wrong, I loved the DMR, its files and its ergonomics, particularly. And I definitely didn't want a Canon dSLR for a number of reasons. But the Nikon really is a first class camera. It's only 12mpx, for its full frame, so noise isn't an issue right up to the top and having a battery that doesn't run down is a revalation
rsolomon Posted September 11, 2009 Share #37 Posted September 11, 2009 Im sure there is a reason but why doesn;t N.C, or others produce a camera body and allow the consumer to choose the mount ? same with new lenses, allow for an option to choose the mount ? Rich The big profit is in the lenses. They want you to buy only their own lenses. The only companies that would consider this are the ones that don't currently have a set of lenses to sell. GreyCoupe Posted September 11, 2009 Share #40 Posted September 11, 2009 Well, they made a helluvalot of big profit from me; 19, 24, 50, 100 APO, 280 APO, 400, 560, 35-70, 80-200... They could recycle some of the brass it took them to brag at the video conference that their lenses are compatible with bodies that go back for decades to make new R10 bodies. I hoped I'd get over this, but I am really sore about it. I have some of the world's most expensive paper weights.
