Advertisement Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Hi Bill W, Take a look here I would bet on the M9 being available shortly after 9 September. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
giordano Posted September 1, 2009 Share #22 Posted September 1, 2009 but can I hide it from the wife...........HMMMM You can't. It's purely a question of whether or not she chooses to take cognisance of it:D
luigi bertolotti Posted September 1, 2009 Share #23 Posted September 1, 2009 If it all comes to fruition, it is one of the best marketing ploys lately given the world economic condition. An M9 announced on 9/9/2009 and at 9:00. What could go wrong. Do I want one.........well.........sure........but can I hide it from the wife...........HMMMM It depends... if the look is rather similar to M8, that is not impossible... my wife realized my M8 was no more a M4 about 3 months after having bought it... ("it's a DIGITAL ? It's like the other...") ; is one of the advantages of traditional Leica look

("it's a DIGITAL ? GMB Posted September 1, 2009 Author Share #25 Posted September 1, 2009 Even I cannot hide 9999 from the wife.........LOL Buy two M9 and proudly tell your wife that this was the best deal ever as you got a volume discount. LOL
erl Posted September 1, 2009 Share #26 Posted September 1, 2009 The spooks are definitely at work here. My wife, a TOTAL luddite, cannot even turn a computer on (or off), asked me today if I had ordered my new camera yet!!! How the hell did she twig? Does she really know about the M9? Now it just happens that on the 09/09/09 we get a large 'settlement' into our bank account. Maybe she thinks I'm considering another M6 or 7. Hmmm. This could be a job for............ black tape? Steve Ash Posted September 1, 2009 Share #28 Posted September 1, 2009 I will tell her: "Oh darling, isn't it too obvious that it is a rare mis-production M6" Regards Steve PS: there is also a rumor that there is a french honeymoon M6-M9 set.
anupmc Posted September 1, 2009 Share #29 Posted September 1, 2009 ...4. The launch of the M9 is likely to kill M8 sales (unless the M9 is in a totally different price league or the improvements over the M8.2 are marginal). This means that it must be available soon/immediately. While Leica may not care about sales for a while, its dealers do care. In fact it made sense for Leica to announce the M8 and the S2 a few months in advance so that potential customers hold off buying competing products. However, this rational would not apply to a M9. ... Speaking to the dealer in Singapore, while they've not heard anything official from Leica, the dealer reckons that of the 15 or so pre-orders they've received todate, only a handful people will likely receive units from an initial shipment batch, and the rest in subsequent similarly limited lots. Chuck Albertson Posted September 3, 2009 Share #30 Posted September 3, 2009 I may be completely wrong and I neither have nor do I claim to have any insider knowledge, but here is why I would bet on a new M9 being announced on 9 September and being available immediately or shortly thereafter: 2. 9/9 is a symbolic date. The only reason why Leica would pick this date is if it wants to announce a product where “9” is important, and that would be the M9. Leica also knows that its customers are hoping for a M9. So if it would announce a new product on 9/9 that is not the M9, Leica would disappoint and potentially annoy its customers. The would not want to do that. It's only symbolic of "Nein, nein, nein! There will *not* be an M9 for the foreseeable future!"
Bill W Posted September 3, 2009 Share #31 Posted September 3, 2009 Even those I have asked that should know said they are waiting for the announcement on 9/9/2009 like everyone else.
