docmark Posted August 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello - I've got an M8, and have been contemplating upgrading to the M8.2. However, I see that an M9 is in the works. I'm an amateur photographer, but love the pictures I take with my M8. Price wise, the M8.2 is within reach - I may buy it this weekend. Should I wait? Would the M9 be a camera beyond my needs/wants? Thanks for the advice.

stunsworth Posted August 28, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 28, 2009 Wait the week and a half. There may not be an M9 announced of course, but on the other hand there may be, and the price of the M8 and/or M8.2 may be reduced.
like_no_other Posted August 28, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 28, 2009 Wait the week and a half. There may not be an M9 announced of course, but on the other hand there may be, and the price of the M8 and/or M8.2 may be reduced. Nothing will be reduced. If there must be a certain price difference they will make the new camera more expensive. It's not a trick - it's Leica.
stunsworth Posted August 28, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 28, 2009 It's not a trick - it's Leica. I guess we'll all know one way or the other in a few days.

topoxforddoc Posted August 28, 2009 Share #7 Posted August 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you're happy with the M8, why change. I'm delighted with my DMRs. So are many others. If so, why change? Just shoot more! Charlie
Guest Posted August 28, 2009 Share #8 Posted August 28, 2009 Nothing will be reduced. If there must be a certain price difference they will make the new camera more expensive. It's not a trick - it's Leica. While the price of the M8.2 may not be reduced the camera will not go up either in the next 10 days.I would wait and make a decision when we all know when we will see the M8.If an M9 is offered for fairly quick delivery I can see a lot of trade in M8.2 being available at sensible money. SJP Posted August 28, 2009 Share #9 Posted August 28, 2009 Keep the M8 and forget the M9, M8u, M8.2 etc. it is not woth the hassle AFAIAC The original M8 is just that - the only original. Does it produce cr@p photo's ?? I would think NO
