Advertisement Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Hi shootpeople, Take a look here Catalina Island. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted November 17, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 17, 2006 Dean - It must be through an aquarium window since I know of no underwater enclosure for the R8. Very nice detail and composition. Some day you should try snorkeling or SCUBA with sea lions -- they are astonishingly playful in the wild, as we learned in the Galapagos (Barbara's trip notes on our site from the Galapagos trip cover that pretty well). shootpeople Posted November 17, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted November 17, 2006 This is on scuba with them. Modified Aquatica housing with an 8 inch domeport that I've had for many years. Thanks

larry Posted November 18, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 18, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dean, I see "Leica envy" (or maybe it's love) in that sea lion's eyes! What a nice shot -- he/she(?) really connects. Larry
shootpeople Posted November 18, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted November 18, 2006 You do definitely feel a connection swimming with harbor seals. This one even grabbed my fins at first which scared me in a big way. Thanks. Bill- Not sure if Brent wants his girlfriend plastered on the web? billh Posted November 18, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 18, 2006 Bill- Not sure if Brent wants his girlfriend plastered on the web? Dean, it was only a temporary thing. I can’t imagine he’d mind. I think all the guys would enjoy seeing her. For sure it would take their minds off wondering when their M8s will arrive. You used the 180 Summicron - that should show off her qualities.... fotografr Posted November 20, 2006 Share #11 Posted November 20, 2006 Bill- Not sure if Brent wants his girlfriend plastered on the web? Oh, go ahead. I'll get over it. Now, about this one--it's one of the most lovely, tranquil underwater shots I've ever seen. It reminds me of an encounter I had with a manatee in the Florida mangroves a couple of years ago, except I got nothing like this in the way of photographs. Some of these creatures are incredibly friendly and playful when in their own environments and not sensing any threat. This guy actually looks like he's smiling. Great work, as usual. billh Posted November 20, 2006 Share #12 Posted November 20, 2006 Oh, go ahead. I'll get over it..... This guy actually looks like he's smiling... l. Yeah, come on Dean!!!! Brent, this clearly is a she. And she is smitten with the interloper. Its romantic - might even make for a good children's book where these kinds of things are commonplace. shootpeople Posted November 21, 2006 Author Share #13 Posted November 21, 2006 Thanks guys. This is the problem with posting Brent's girl. He ends up with the hotties and I end up in a romantic session with a seal.
fotografr Posted November 22, 2006 Share #14 Posted November 22, 2006 Yeah, come on Dean!!!! Brent, this clearly is a she. And she is smitten with the interloper. I'm still not sure, Bill. Remember, this is a SAN FRANCISCO sea lion.
