An unfortunate day...

Guy's suggestion is the most sensible one, IMHO.

If some people were a bit more tolerant of others, and bore in mind the global membership, with all that entails with regards to English as a language (on this half ), cultural differences, and the like, then the Moderators wouldn't have much to do.

Guy is stating the obvious Andy.

But the problem is simply that some cant control their temper. This is like asking a thief to stop stealing. It just wont happen.

And another thing: those with influence on this forum need to play the role of firefighters.

Putting paid moderators in place wold be like employing private wheel-clampers - they would feel compelled to justify their presence and payment by reacting officiously, which would quickly destroy the generally excellent tone that exists in these forums.

Besides, I think that the mods do an excellent job in these forums - hence the excellent tone.

If others feel that there are individuals that are consistently angry, rude or abusive then perhaps they should contact a moderator directly and quote specific examples rather than advocate adversely affecting the entire membership for the sins of the few. :)

Pete.
