diogenis Posted August 28, 2009 Author Share #22 Posted August 28, 2009 Guy's suggestion is the most sensible one, IMHO. If some people were a bit more tolerant of others, and bore in mind the global membership, with all that entails with regards to English as a language (on this half ), cultural differences, and the like, then the Moderators wouldn't have much to do. Guy is stating the obvious Andy. But the problem is simply that some cant control their temper. This is like asking a thief to stop stealing. It just wont happen. And another thing: those with influence on this forum need to play the role of firefighters.

wparsonsgisnet Posted August 28, 2009 Share #24 Posted August 28, 2009 I concur. We need moderation. There is no need for a change in moderators. Isn't this horse dead, yet?

farnz Posted August 28, 2009 Share #26 Posted August 28, 2009 Putting paid moderators in place wold be like employing private wheel-clampers - they would feel compelled to justify their presence and payment by reacting officiously, which would quickly destroy the generally excellent tone that exists in these forums. Besides, I think that the mods do an excellent job in these forums - hence the excellent tone. If others feel that there are individuals that are consistently angry, rude or abusive then perhaps they should contact a moderator directly and quote specific examples rather than advocate adversely affecting the entire membership for the sins of the few. andybarton Posted August 28, 2009 Share #27 Posted August 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) At the risk of being castigated for closing threads un-necessarily, I think that this horse has run it's course. Even if the horse is dead Thanks for the support from those that have offered it.
