pop Posted August 3, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 3, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) These are from last saturday, our national holiday. After the display of the public fireworks (fired off a boat on the lake) private enthusiasts fire a serious amount of fireworks on the grounds of the nearby boat harbor. Taken with a D-Lux 3, the second one @1600 ASA with a fair bit of cropping. I rather like the impressionistic effect. Comments are welcome. stuny Posted August 3, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2009 Philipp - I very much like #1 for moment, composition, light and detail (it includes smoke from the fireworks which enhances the shot). #2 is very promising but I find the amount of noise objectionable. In this version the noise reduction, followed by sharpening, followed by noise reduction reduces the severity of the noise and makes the image seem more impressionistic. But is it successful compared to the original? I don't know.
vdb Posted August 4, 2009 Share #3 Posted August 4, 2009 #2, both yours and Stuart's, are excellent. I love the painterly quality and feel. Well done.
pop Posted August 5, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted August 5, 2009 Stuart and Virgil - Thank you for your comments and encouragements. I have received wildly different feedback for #2, and I can see the reasons for that. My personal favorite still remains the original version. Stuart's version enhances the reflections of the lights in the water but loses much detail in the crowd. (.. and off to experiment some more with the full size pic..)
