Storm over my garage

very impressive and well-captured scene; I like the composition, too; your processing of b/w really gets close to the impression of darkroom work; I wonder how you do it, but I think to some extent it may be the use of "Unsharp Mask" that creates that very suitable "grain"-impression

This word is so overused that I cringe nearly every time I hear it, but I'm still going to use it to describe your image because it is appropriate in this instance.

Awesome!

ps--Is your garage still standing?

I thank all of for viewing and commenting.

lightpainter--I do love traditional B&W film and silver gelatin printing but I have been getting more comfortable with the digital darkroom. I currently use Aperture for basic exposure and contrast adjustments then convert to B&W with Nik Silver. A very intuitive software. I am pleased so far with images on my screen but have not yet adopted a printing method.

Virgil, wonderful presentation of this powerful image. As a sailor & a combatent of sailboat racing, one tries to heed the call to "sail for the dark clouds", as they always have wind. It fosters a love/hate relationship with danger and "sailing on the edge". I still always stand erect, frozen almost in trance, to view the night sky during a thunderstorm and to welcome the overwhelming power, beauty & grace of our world. This image congers that emotion. Well done.
