DrM Posted July 11, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 11, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear all, Already for 3,5 months I'm waiting for a Leica UV/IR 46mm filter that I ordered at Robert White. Is there some kind of problem at Leica? Cheers.
Advertisement Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Hi DrM, Take a look here Leica UV/IR filters. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted July 11, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 11, 2009 Don't know but I think the problem is more with the dealer you ordered from. B&H here in the US has them in stock and more then likely a GOOD Leica dealer in your part of the world will also have them in stock.
delander † Posted July 11, 2009 Share #3 Posted July 11, 2009 If it is not for a wide angle lens, it might be quicker if you changed that to a B&W 486 filter. There seem to be some people waiting for the 46 mm filter when you get them as part of your free two filters from Leica. Jeff
Marty Posted July 11, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 11, 2009 Don't think it is that easy. I suspect that Leica do prioritise certain parts of the world. We have some good dealers in the UK, RW being one of them, but obviously not important enough. By the way the situation with B&W is just as bad (I happen to have one of those on order too). jaay Posted July 11, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 11, 2009 None of the UK Leica dealers have any E46 UV/IR filters in stock. They are all waiting for a new batch from Leica along with those people still waiting for their free ones. However Croydon Photo Centre still has some, so I would cancel the order with Robert White and get one from the above link - they only have a few! terence fairweather Posted July 11, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 11, 2009 I`ve been waiting 3 months for a free E46!!! I waited 2 months for a E 39!
enboe Posted July 11, 2009 Share #7 Posted July 11, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have it on good authority that the E49 and special size for the 18mm arrive in 3 weeks from being ordered. I think it's a batch thing. Patience will be rewarded, but picking up one filter from one of the sponsoring vendors would not be a bad thing. I liked the Heliopan better than the B&W back in the very earliest days of the M8. It had a stronger IR reflection coating. Eric
enty Posted July 11, 2009 Share #8 Posted July 11, 2009 Mine were ordered in March and arrived within the past week or two (I'm in the UK). I ordered directly from Leica, when I registered my equipment on-line.
Dougg Posted July 16, 2009 Share #9 Posted July 16, 2009 I too had some trouble with a filter order from Rob't White Ltd. I bought a new 35 Summilux from them and added the B+W UV/IR filter for my own convenience and to give them a bit more custom. Unfortunately, they did not indicate the filter was not on hand. The lens came fairly promptly, but they kept blaming the Germans for being slow in supplying filters. Eleven weeks later I canceled the filter order and got a refund. Any number of US dealers had that B+W filter in stock for immediate shipment.
Marty Posted July 16, 2009 Share #10 Posted July 16, 2009 All glassware seems to be unevenly distributed between US and UK, and it is annoying that nobody wants to be up-front about it. Only once an order is placed do you find out about the delays, or even worse, that the products are readily available elsewhere
leicanut2 Posted July 16, 2009 Share #11 Posted July 16, 2009 Scary you mean I have to wait more than three months for my two free 46 filters, that means I got two more months to go. Dang I may have order one from B & H to hold me over till then. Got my free subscription to LFI already that was fast. This was the first year I let my old subscription expire so when I got my M8.2 I was happy they gave me the subscription, I leica the magazine. jaapv Posted July 16, 2009 Share #12 Posted July 16, 2009 By the way the situation with B&W is just as bad (I happen to have one of those on order too). I may be a bit dumb, but if one orders a B&W from one of the Euopean specialists, they usually turn up within 48 hours. Why order with somebody who does not stock them? Marty Posted July 16, 2009 Share #13 Posted July 16, 2009 RW are known as one of the specialists and like Dougg said they do not state out of stock (like on certain other products); in my case fortunately this was just a backup and part of another order. I would certainly have phoned beforehand if I needed it desperately, and I recommend this to others. Too bad that RW, otherwise very good, sometimes offer "optimistic" delivery times and then fall behind a bit in the feedback department (after taking your cash). DennisPT Posted July 17, 2009 Share #14 Posted July 17, 2009 I applied for my free UV/IR filters in Hong Kong on 4th July and got them yesterday. Must consider myself lucky. Sizes were chrome 39mm and series VII. Made in Japan may be the reason that I got them quickily? Cheers, D
lanetomlane Posted July 17, 2009 Share #15 Posted July 17, 2009 Dear all, Already for 3,5 months I'm waiting for a Leica UV/IR 46mm filter that I ordered at Robert White. Is there some kind of problem at Leica? Cheers. I ordered my 46mm IR/UV filter from Robert White on the 10 March and it arrived last week. Hopefully yours will show up soon. ___________________________ Cheers, Tom Photography by Tom Lane
danhefner Posted July 17, 2009 Share #16 Posted July 17, 2009 Why is it that I can't seem to find a source for a Series VII UV/IR filter? Leica has sold me a fine 24mm 1/1.4 lens, but can't seem to produce the (needed) UV/IR filters that fit it.
Marty Posted July 17, 2009 Share #17 Posted July 17, 2009 Well I have the filter due to a stroke of genius forethought - but still waiting for the lens They should have given one of us both items and the other nothing
Tinchohs Posted July 18, 2009 Share #18 Posted July 18, 2009 I purchased my M8 in early June. Not having heard back from Leica, I mailed them again and they are telling me that IR filters will not ship at least until then end of July. It's crazy in my opinion. I sped 8K in camera and lens and I have to wait months for the filters... which ideally I should not have to use. A bit dissapointe I have to say. stephengilbert Posted July 18, 2009 Share #19 Posted July 18, 2009 A few days ago I received two free 46mm filters that I'd ordered from leica in May. I'm pretty sure that Popflash has some in stock.
