Stage two of the Tour de France went by my house on Sunday, so we (Wilson Laidlaw, Caron, and Kathy (my wife) wandered down to the corner and took in the procession. Here are a couple of my shots from the show.

 

For the technically inclined all shots were with a 35mm Summicron (1969 version) and the M8.

unsharp at any speed, alas

 

Yes, it was zone focused on a spot on the pavement, then shot with some panning so the focal point could have shifted. The last shot is sharp focused on the balloon character on the car on the right, with the forground out of focus plus motion blur.

 

With this kind of photography it is very hit and miss. Other shots were spot on in focus, but not very interesting. So ist das Leben...
