chingwa Posted July 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) ...selling off my treasured summilux 50 1.4 asph for the voigtlander 50 1.1 (and possibly a new 15 heliar to boot). I've owned the lux for a couple years and have loved every minute of it. however I am really considering this and it is alarming me I thought I was done with the lens lust. I was happy being a one lens to camera guy. And just for the record this is not the same as my other lens "considerations" in the past... like the 30 minutes of consideration I gave the new noctilux .95 (pure fantasy, bu a lovely 30 minutes it was). this time I am SERIOUSLY considering it. and I can't think of any real reasons not to do it... or at least try it. someone help me. Advertisement Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Hi chingwa, Take a look here can't believe I'm considering this.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
leicanut2 Posted July 7, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 7, 2009 Keep the 50mm Lux and save your pennies for the other ones I just ordered the 15mm voight myself. Remmember if you sell it you will have to pay more for a new one or bottom feed for a used one. Bottom feeding is OK but I have got stung a few times doing that. fotografr Posted July 7, 2009 Share #7 Posted July 7, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) You'll be sorry. The Voigtlander 50/1.1 is nowhere near the lens the 50 Summilux ASPH is. The Summilux even outperforms the new $10,000 Noctilux. Come to your senses, man.

leicanut2 Posted July 7, 2009 Share #15 Posted July 7, 2009 I don't know about others on here but I have a 50 lux and still wana get the 50mm 1.1 It can't be harder to lug around them my R8 with the 280mm mounted on it. Get the 15mm Voightlander old or the new M mount a teriffic little lens for the price. Jan
hoppyman Posted July 7, 2009 Share #16 Posted July 7, 2009 Can you try the new lens first? Can you focus it wide open? Can you work with the miniscule DoF assuming you can focus it accurately enough? How often was 1.4 not fast enough for you? What happens when you stop down (focus shift) How does it perform in close? Are you happy to carry that much larger lens around, on or off camera? Can you afford the price of replacing that Summilux 50 ASPH. once you inevitably find you want it back? Unless you REALLY NEED 1.1 you're crazy to shift! Buy yourself that 15 if you want and have some fun. It might help reduce your technolust and save you from doing something very rash. Last suggestion, if you've been shooting with the Summilux for a couple of years, get a couple of your favourite shots turned into big prints. There now, that feeling has gone away, hasn't it:) ...selling off my treasured summilux 50 1.4 asph for the voigtlander 50 1.1 (and possibly a new 15 heliar to boot). J_Thompson Posted July 8, 2009 Share #17 Posted July 8, 2009 Why not just keep your 50mm Summilux and pick up the 50mm Nokton on the used market in a few months, as undoubtedly, some perfectionist will be unloading his?
noah_addis Posted July 8, 2009 Share #18 Posted July 8, 2009 Don't get me wrong, there may be nothing wrong with the Nokton, but trading a 'Lux ASPH for it seems silly. Personally, the only 50 I have is the 'Lux Pre-ASPH, and I love it.
Guest leicaphotos Posted July 8, 2009 Share #19 Posted July 8, 2009 if it's a speed thing, get the canon 50/1.2 or the hex 1.2 and the 15mm keep the summilux

I think I should be banned from the internet for a week... It's not just the size, there is no comparison between the two lenses. Don't do it.
