Mauribix Posted July 1, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 1, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is going back to Solms for the 4th time, do you think I could ask for a replace camera? Matter of fact it was once there because of the broken shutter and three times (if I can recall right) for the vertical line problem... ...mmm... I'm a bit sick of that. Advertisement Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Hi Mauribix, Take a look here My broken M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Bo_Lorentzen Posted July 1, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 1, 2009 Maurizio, you are VERY polite about that... My car just lost its ability to remember the seat settings... for the 4th time.. Im much less polite than you are about this.. and a Leica surely should work after only a few tries.. (should should a car for that matter). . Mauribix Posted July 1, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted July 1, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) English please or at least if you must post in another language say the same thing in english so the rest of us can read it. Sorry to hear about your M8. Yes be polite BUT get another M8. You're right Shootist, sorry about that. Enrico was worried for my camera not to have ruined my shootings in New York, then I replied that I ended up with buyin' a Dlux4 while I was in NYC, so he kindly invited me to catch up for a lunch together as we're used to. Last, but not least, Enrico's iPhone went broken as my M8, so he did loose my mobile number and asked me to call him! That's all folks... Oh how I wish my beloved Italian to be the most comprehensive language in the world... Obviously, right after Japanese!
Shootist Posted July 1, 2009 Share #8 Posted July 1, 2009 Maurizio the only Italian words I know are swear words learnt from the Italians living in NY.
Mauribix Posted July 1, 2009 Author Share #9 Posted July 1, 2009 Maurizio the only Italian words I know are swear words learnt from the Italians living in NY. Oh yes! The pitoresque "broccolino", I couldn't find the wordreference section, but here there's a funny index Italian American Slang
Jamie Roberts Posted July 2, 2009 Share #10 Posted July 2, 2009 Ed--if the only Italian you know is swear-words then you're not eating or drinking properly Maurizio: get a new one if you can. 4 trips to Solms seems excessive (though mine's been in twice if we count the hardware upgrade, and once again for an extended period. On the other hand, I've had it since fall of 2006. It's actually out-lasted all my other digital cameras except the DMR )
jaapv Posted July 2, 2009 Share #11 Posted July 2, 2009 I agree with Jamie. Get it repaired by Leica and offload it on e-bay. Get a M8.2 or M8 refurb. In fact, get one now and dump the other one later.
Mauribix Posted July 2, 2009 Author Share #12 Posted July 2, 2009 Jamie, Jaap, you're perfectly right... what is irritating here is the fact that to get a perfectly working camera, I should spend once again money, just to get another (identical) one that is supposed to be working perfectly since the beginning... (while I could spend money on lenses FWIW) Matter of fact I did upgrade the shutter and pay the extended guarantee too just for what in that case? I simply hate the idea to spend money on it just to get the same camera... and maybe who knows, defective form the beginning too? Let's suppose that... let's suppose I get another camera with the same problems... ('cause nothing is impossible in that case). What do you think about it? Eoin Posted July 2, 2009 Share #13 Posted July 2, 2009 I got a new one on my 5th trip back. 3 times for your sensor line problem seems excessive, but it's proving to be a common enough fault. I believe once you have the line problem it will be fixed by Leica but does re-appear over time. I had it twice on my original M8.
Shootist Posted July 2, 2009 Share #14 Posted July 2, 2009 I agree with Jamie. Get it repaired by Leica and offload it on e-bay. Get a M8.2 or M8 refurb. In fact, get one now and dump the other one later. Jaapv, Maurizio I think Jamie is referring to getting a new camera from Leica directly as a replacement for the one you now have. Not to buy a new M8 and sell the other.
