dhsimmonds Posted June 25, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 25, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) In the current LFI magazine, SH Photo from Nurenberg, (English spelling!) are advertising the last remaining new stock of R9's and lenses with an offer of free R mount adaptors for either Canon, Nikon or Sony DSLR's. Whilst most forum members reading this probably have the lenses they need already, I am wondering if SH are likely to be selling the adaptors separately and who manufactures them? ALUX Posted June 25, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 25, 2009 Judging from the pics I'd say these are the usual china-made adapters. The original Leica R mount features steel leaf springs that guarantee a constant pressure and thus a tight fit of the lenses over decades. Unfortunately, all the Leica R-Canon EF adapters I know don't have steel leaf springs. they create the pressure by these "trenches" which have to be expanded once in while:
thrice Posted June 25, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 25, 2009 Novoflex use leaf springs, but unfortunately you pay for it
lct Posted June 25, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 25, 2009 Novoflex use leaf springs, but unfortunately you pay for it Yes and they don't have focus confirm chips AFAIK. Did anyone try to stick a chip on a Novoflex adapter here?
earleygallery Posted June 25, 2009 Share #5 Posted June 25, 2009 My cheap Canon adapter (found on e bay) works fine and has focus confirm. OK there's a tiny little bit of play, but it works.
ALUX Posted June 25, 2009 Share #6 Posted June 25, 2009 Novoflex use leaf springs, but unfortunately you pay for it Yes, but I really dislike the fact that the mounts are made of anodized aluminum rather than chromed brass!

OK there's a tiny little bit of play, but it works. Hey James--yes they work--but that bit of play becomes more problematic on the full-sensor bodies. I've found I could actually lose focus with the play on some lenses!
earleygallery Posted June 26, 2009 Share #8 Posted June 26, 2009 I should just clarify, by play I mean the lens will rotate ever so slightly once mounted, but there's no play in the direction of the sensor plane.
