GCHA Posted June 26, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted June 26, 2009 Thanks all, for your kind comments. I like taking pictures and I do like the D Lux 4. Have not found too many limitations. Perhaps, something more than 60mm (equiv), would be nice, or perhaps a high quality telephoto accessory lens. Thanks for viewing my gallery.
johnwolf Posted June 26, 2009 Share #6 Posted June 26, 2009 G.C., What a wonderful series! They illustrate both the capabilities of the camera and your skill and vision. Thanks for sharing them. With just a few color shots in an otherwise BW portfolio, I'm wondering about your thought process when deciding on BW vs. color for a given photo? Seems like a lot of your color shots would be at least as strong in BW as the rest of your BW work. I'm not suggesting one or the other, but am more interested in how others make this decision. griffster Posted June 26, 2009 Share #7 Posted June 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Quality stuff there! I love "Rusted Truck Grill". How can there be so many nice colors in an old, beat up piece of metal?

farnz Posted June 27, 2009 Share #9 Posted June 27, 2009 Gary, Really nice work that emphasises the capabilities of the humble DL4. I particularly like "Bicycles in the Snow". Pete.

John[/quote] John, I sometimes wonder that myself. I usually work in B&W, I have been doing that for years with personal images. I have done a lot of large format B&W in the past. Most of my past color work was commercial in nature. So I guess I needed a rest from the color stuff. In moving to digital, I became frustrated with all of the rigmarole with profiling monitors, printers, etc. that I gave up on color... untill I got the D Lux 4. I liked the color that I was seeing on the LCD, so have been interested in doing or trying more color images. I still perfer B&W, as I seem to see in those values anyway. If you don't mind me asking what kind of workflow you use in those beautiful B&W? Are you using the Dynamic B&W mode? Thanks Hello, I sometimes use the Dynamic B&W Mode, unless I wish to use other post tools in my edit software, then I shoot in color and do my own B&W filtration. I convert, using C1, and edit with Picture Window Pro 3.5. Tanks for your comments about my gallery! You won't be dissatisfied with the D Lux 4, should you purchase one..
